The Monitor which came with my Sharp X68000 has died, after nearly 18 years of semi constant use. A shame, but can't complain too much.

So, i'm trying to find a new/used one which supports mainly 15 and 31Khz (don't remember 24Khz being used that often) This one on eBay looked perfect, but it is in the US and i'm UK - Shipping costs are crazy. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280469248223&_trksid=p2759.l1259

Any help on this would be appreciated guys. :)

Why dont you get a LCD monitor some will work from 15 to 30+Khz I will try and find a model for you
can any LCD run at a res as low as 256x256? Plus, a CRT should keep things looking more authentic.

What size monitor are you looking for x68000 ?.

The only LCD`s i know that will sync down that low, Are LCD tv`s.

EDIT: What connector does the x68000 support to connect to a monitor ?.
Or more specifically, What monitor cables do you have for your x68000 ?.

VGA, Scart, RCA etc ?.

EDIT2: Found this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SANWA-29in-15-25-khz-MONITOR-USED-WORKING_W0QQitemZ120422011698QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Video_Games_Coin_Operated_MJ?hash=item1c09b61332

The seller of the auction i linked in the OP says he can ship to the uk for $300. Tempting, but it is possible one of these could crop up on ebay uk, since barco are a European manufacturer (Belgian, i think)

The X68000 video card has a 15 Pin D-SUB RGB Analogue Out, Here's a link to the pinout http://www.hardwarebook.info/X68000_A/V

I just need to find a simple solution and one that works well without too much setting up. Would love to have some extra scren size after years with a 13" monitor!

Yep, 15Khz it is, You would need the 1438 or the 1902 multiscan monitors for anything above 15Khz, Though i`m pretty sure the 1438 only supported upto 31Khz. No, i just checked, It supports 15-40 KHz, I stand corrected. Not sure about the 1902, But if i can remember correctly, It was a very expensive but pretty crappy monitor anyway.

That one may be your best bet. I was going to suggest getting an actual arcade monitor but they generally cost more than that and then you have to fab a case or something.

Actually, let me know if you decide NOT to get it. I have a fully operational 25" Smash TV cabinet that I cant bring myself to MAME. I have all the parts to do it and the only 'missing' part is the monitor.
If you don't want it I think I will get it and make a dedicated MAME setup. I am talking about this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/_W0QQitemZ280469248223

Do the international shipping charges not frighten you?

I've made an offer on it and am just waiting on the seller to come back and decide.

Would have been happier finding this in the U.K, but i need one right now. Love my X68000 and use it daily for gaming, word processing and also make use of the Roland soundcard.

I'm in the U.S. and the frightening part about the shipping is that the seller uses UPS.

I want it but figured it was important to you so I will hold off.
