the meaning is that
first 500 gp2x are assembled by a subconstractor's subconstractor's subconstractor's .... subconstractor, not by GPH themselves.
And the workers in the subconstractor were very old women.

Just a guess here... The original Korean 500 were subcontracted (by the contractors) to some Korean grandmothers. I've met a few Korean grandmothers and they were all very nice people. So there you have it.

Yes, THey are good people. but, they are not suitable to handle a high-technology machine. That is the point why many korean user worried.

no, you're all wrong.

GPH are going to subcontract the manufacture of a new model. The GP2X: Grandma Edition, which comes with all new features such as easy to read larger buttons and an incontinence alarm which goes off at the first sign of wee.

This whole thing is a shame really. I'm very much falling for my GP2X. It would be a shame if it suddenly fell apart. At this point it seems like it won't.

Sounds like GPH is in some dodgy shit here with its subcontracter of a subcontracter (etc... etc...) using solely granny labour...
I wonder what the advert for jobs in that factory reads? Why just old women? Strange...

Only the first 500 Special early released ones, not the ones from Craig at GBAX, these were more of quick releases to korea only.

The "first" first editions, versus our first editions.

We are all ok.

Only assuming that the grandmother that made mine is less competent than the person that made yours. Probably almost anyone could be trained to put those parts together. It's probably not like they had the grandmothers soldering things onto the chips. Then again looking at some of the pictures so far, you never know... It almost looks like the grandmothers have been involved the whole time.

Isn't that just speculation? If I'm going to speculate I would think that all units so far were made in the same factory and probably by the same people as well.

I doubt GPH had time to find replacement factory/workers within a matter of days. The reason why they only mention 500 units is because that's all there is in Korea. There have been no more than 500 units delivered there and there won't be any more until Q1 2006.
