Katamari Damacy has to be one of the most inventive and creative games I have seen in years. For those of you who don't know, in Katamari Damacy you play a prince who has to roll a "katamari" around houses, cities and the entire world picking up as many items as you can on the way. Controls are extremely simple and utilize none of the buttons on the PS2 controller; the only thing used in game are the two joysticks to move your katamari in any direction. I'm not sure if a European release is planned, but if any of you live in the States be SURE to pick this one up. And the best thing about it, it's only $20!

I have to agree, it's a very simple yet challenging game at the same time. It's a shame this game was so under ordered, hopefully this will get a second run of disks like Rez is getting soon.

I LOVE this game. My mom and my friends... EVERYONE loves it. I think it's just about one of the coolest concepts ever created. Then again, these weird Japanese games always become my favorites.

Anyway, it's definitely a cool cool game. When you start getting huge in the later levels, you get such a feeling of power. There's really nothing like it. The art style is particularly appealing, with the designs of the father and all of the strange characters you start gobbling up. Even some of the smaller items, like small animals and pencils, exude a truly different style and appeal. The control style is very easy, so even people who don't normally play games can get into it. The two player mode, although not as exciting as the one player, is a nice addition. My friends and I played quite a few matches before we went back to single player.

Well, anyway, I'm kind of tired, so if that didn't make any sense, but you're still interested, just buy the game. It's only $20 anyway. Trust me, you'll at least like it a little.

I doubt there's a game in existance that everyone will agree to liking, such is the nature of entertainment. All I know is I felt a sense of achievment the first time I got my katamari to grow from the size of a tennis ball to something large enough to scare the lady sitting in her living room asleep and eventually have her become a panicing screaming part of my giant ball of chaos. :)

I can appreciate that this game may not be to everyone's liking.

Speaking personally, I love it to bits, right down to the superb soundtrack. It's utterly absurd differentness is like a breath of fresh air in an industry which has been starting to smell rather stagnant these days.

Hey, Europe is the only place outside of Japan that embraced the Neogeo Pocket...we're not gamers that should be pigeonholed like that. Besides, it was released as budget title in the US and I don't see any reason, with the positive publicity this title is bound to get from the UK press, this wouldn't succeed in Europe.

Some embraced the NeoGeo Pcket, but it is still deemed a comercial failure because the general public didnt

It was deemed a faliure by who? Of course it wasn't as successful as the GBA, it was never going to be, but it enjoyed a good amount of sales in Europe before those gits Aruze pulled the plug (and duly screwed SNK over). Katamari Damacy wouldn't be a GTA success, but nobody's expecting it to be.

EDIT: and the GP32 is a nother good case in point. It's sold tons of units in Europe. There is absolutely NO reason why Katamari Damacy shouldn't be released in Europe other than narrow-minded marketing men holding it back.

Yeah, The UK gets tons of stuff we dont get here, I wouldn't be suprised of you get this too eventually, seeing as Namco was suprised how well it did here.
