Now, im new to GP32 so please dont flame if this already exists :D

I hear how lots of emus work pretty good now that overclocking is proven not so dangerous. So instead of making each game overclock itself, why not make a universal program that overclocks the entire time, for all applications? Just an idea.

I dont think you can overclock the gp32 processor as you would a pentium or Athalon. Each program is integrated with code telling the cpu to go a certain clock speed. Now, if you made a program and searched for some hex values in a program and replaced the clock speed code automatically, that would be nice.

hey, couldn't they make the firmware overclocked or something? That is what some people use to boot their GP's up with, so why not make an overclocked firmware (if that's even possible)?

Yup, that was kinda wthat i was thinkin, a whole system overclock utility

But IIRC Sound and timer ticks are dependant on the clock... so all games would run e.g. twice as fast, but with hilariously distorted sound and perhaps stability problems...

99% of all programs needn't be run outside their specs. Why would someone overclock ASR, for example... no benefit from doing that. Only emulators could benefit from tweaking with the speed, I guess...

I think it woul be OK for a specialized loader program with speed selection, but only as fxe that loads fxe's itself... The european firmware loads way too fast anyway, so there's no need to upgrade that.

Just make an overclock hex patcher. It shouldn't be too difficult. I might make one if I'm especially bored.

And the guy who says he was going to make one was called nomad.

if the FW works on anything (the clock speed might be re-set on prog launch, I don't know...) it wouldn't work on any emulators (unless they were left at default speed) because after the FW sets he speed, the emu would set it again, making what the FW did 100% usless.
