Hi all,

Once again a new PND :) this time, it's about vector drawing (don't ask me what is the relation between a coolaids and drawing : I dont know :D)

WEB : http://inkscape.org/
Screenies : http://inkscape.org/screenshots/index.php?lang=fr
PND : http://sebt3.openpandora.org/pnd/inkscape.pnd

Lomaxx have tested it a bit, and so far his feed back is : this is damn hard on CPU and lag (a few minuts to start etc) But that was somewhat expected :D

Just a little addition of mine to explain in which situation i tested the PND:

Before (and i want to state cleary that it has been before) testing the inkscape-PND, my system has been a little bit corrupted, due to the fact that i had to hard-reset my Pandora while compiling a completely different package, which made my system hang. For example my xfce4-panel and -systray did not show up anymore.

Running inkscape didn't break anything at all. I just wanted to tell this, so you know that my report might not be 100% representative.

"top" showed me 97% CPU-usage and something like 31% mem-usage. It took nearly a minute to start.

hey sebt3, why not talk to the devs over at inkscape and see if they can spin you some source code optimized for ARM or something... wouldn't hurt to try... especially since Inkscape's reqs are not all that high...

I just tried it, and it's unusably slow even at 1ghz. With some speed improvements this could be a nice app to have on the Pandora.

I didn't looked the source too much, but I wouldn't be surprise to see a ton of "double".
Vector drawing requiere a lot's of math, and it's not integer based. I'm trying to build with (limited) Neon support.
But my hope is small here...

EDIT: as expected : Inkscape still use 100% full time.

don't give up on it... I'm sure a solution can be found... Can't seem to find any published min sys reqs... which is odd...

Grr... why won't my Pandora arrive...

Anyway, this is one of the things that I was hoping to use the Pandora for. A shame that it runs so slowly right now. I do hope that a solution can be found!

will be nice(r) when it's been optimized (for one)... been wondering how XaraLX would run on the pandora... trying to think of the other vector graphics programs out there for Linux... hmm...
