Since Sega and SonicTeam are making such botch jobs of Sonic games these days, I've decided to make my own.

Basically its a 3d representation of the first 100 issues of the U.K Fleetway Sonic the Comics, as they provide the more true to game stories.

Using 3Dgamestudio A6, It'll be a third person affair heavily scripted with cut scenes and a full cast of characters kicking around the quake 2 standard in graphics. Bundled with a PDf containing scans of the 100 issues of S.T.C, players will be able to follow the action and use the issues for help if needed.

Soundtrack will be original game music in the levels which match the games and others will be well known tracks from the likes of Metallica, proppeller heads and Rob dougan.

I'm doing this on my own so its taking a while and so far is about 10% complete, when finished the game will be free to whoever wants it to avoid copyright problems, court cases etc.

If anyone wants to help, drop me an e-mail tim@stctg.co.uk

This sounds interesting, I personally love to see Sonic fangames (although I prefer to see properly-coded ones, TGF ones usually suck)

Bit ambitious, but nothing wrong with that.

When you're further on w/ the project, I'd love to do level design :)

Cool idea. I love sonic games too. If you need any help with anything sound related just pm me. And dont forget to tell me when its done!!!

Nice to see I have some support. Yes it is very ambitious but it is a game I have wanted to see for a very long time (so I'm making it :p ), as I believe the comics were the strongest element of Sonics little life (I believe him to be dead, Sonic adventure onwards are not real sonic games, not by my standards anyway!)

So thanks for offering to help, as Mofokubik will now know from an e-mail I just sent him, I have a huge problem with my 3D software at the minute which means I can't animate characters at all for some unknown reason. So if anybody has A5 3D gamestudio please help me out.

Also I mentioned that the game is about 10% complete....well er after a step back and another look at my plan I would estimate it's pushing 1% at the Mo. I have three characters modelled and four environments (which covers about 12 levels).

Soon I will have a PDF available featuring all of the scans of the comics (its taking me a long time to scan 700 pages(just the main stories)) which you will require if you wish to do some level building, as I really want to capture the essence of them. Its a very self indulgent project I know but thats what keeps it going in the end. Familiarity with the characters and plot also help keep it moving at pace.

*looks around* ......... *cough*copyrights dude *cough*

*whsitles off*

A screen shot of the Sonic Model in a test environment, the Skins crappy I know (and I'm working on it), but the model is as detailed as I'm prepared to create.

Ah hell, I hate freeservers.

Ok if anyone wants to see it I'll e-mail it to em.

I can't believe I started this topic back in July last year!

Anyhoo, Little progress has been made and what has been done is being scrapped. After a hectic year in Uni I now have the time to devote more effort to it.

Whats changed:

New site design (built with a freeservers manager - can't be arsed with Dreamweaver anymore)

Switching the game to Blitz 3D simply because I've spent the last year learning the 3D Gamestudio engine code and found myself putting huge black lines through alot of my prototype artwork because it just isn't flexible enough.

So thats an update, almost a year on and still nothing playable (well nothing compiled anyhoo)

But it is still alive!

Hey maybe I can top Daikatana on one of the most waited games, hopefully I won't dissapoint as much.

Or Duke Nukem Forever...

...so basically you have done nothing. Oh well, I hope you get back up and running with it.
