alright so I tried to update my caanoo's firmware with my 4gb sdhc card, I've heared using a 2gb sd card is better but I figured nothing too bad would happen, but it took over two hours before I gave up and thought I could try again later. so later I turn on my caanoo and find it stuck on the very begining where it says gph. I quickly googled a way out of this and found a video on youtube right here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKi6Kv3iWSY I found for the most part that it worked except I used my 4gb sdhc card again and it took another two hours before I gave up again. the next day it is still stuck and this time I got a 2gb sd card. but now it doesn't even try to upgrade it just stays frozen. I guese I'm a bit of a noob. So yeah, sorry its so long but I figured the more details I put in the better you could understand. (oh and I don't think it matters but in the video the guy goes to fungp but I went to openhandhelds)

I would not say it is bricked, the bootloader probably does not detect your sd card, this could be due to the way its formatted. I had similar issues with some of my sd cards, eventually i took the sd card from my gp2x because i remember that one worked for upgrading my gp2x, it was the only card that got detected. You could do a search on the best way your card should be formatted in the gp2x section. That information probably still applies to the caanoo as well.

Edit:
was your sd card empty before you had put on the firmware files ? if not format it if you can and try again, also try some diffrent formatting programs or format it the card in your photo appareil. Also sd card convertors did not want to work with me either. I had to use a normal sd card to get the firmware upgrading started otherwise i also just saw the gph logo, i think if you see this logo the bootloader is still intact and you should be able to perform an upgrade with a normal sd card that is fresly formatted in the correct way (you could also try to format under linux, i think that's how i used to get my card working in the gp2x days).

If you can't format your card you could try the trick used on dingoo's http://boards.dingoonity.org/dingux-general/safe-zimagerootfs-replacement-(solves-freezing-at-dingux-logo)/

to place the necassary files in the beginning of the partition
