here are my questions:

1. is the button placement on the gp32 too high?
2. which snes emu is better and how fast can it run comparing to the actual snes?
3. is the system really big?
4. is developing games really hard?
5. is this system worth it only for snes emus?

any help would be appreciated :) .

1. Nope, it's perfect.
2. Snes9xGP is better in my opinion and it can runs games at full speed without sound at a reasonable FS without making it run choppy, with sound, you'll need to increase the FS which will make it choppy.
3. Not really, it like a GBA but only a little bigger and a little fatter.
4. I wouldn't know
5. Not really, at least not right now. Both snes emulators are currently dead but rlyeh in the future is going to work on fSNES and hopefully yoyo's secret project is a snes emulator. You should wait awhile and see what yoyo's secret project ends up being and how fSNES turns out.

i dont like the shape of the gp32 . can u mold a new case or change the case in any way?

The gp32 is acctually made out of hardened silly putty. If you boil it for 3 hours at 450 degree's you can acctually mold it in to what ever shape you want.

ps. this was a sarcastic answer

the shape is fine, and it's about the same size as a gba. It's bigger, but hey...so's the screen. And not just a little bit bigger, it's a lot bigger :) not to mention it has built in stereo speakers...but the shape is AOK. You'll find it fits comfortably in your hands and the only problem is it doesn't really fit in your pocket (if you're nutty enough to risk scratching the screen like that)

i disagree with azure - snes9x is very choppy even without sound, the frameskip has to be prettyy high such that it's not very smooth and the fast action games aren't very enjoyable to play.

I get a lot of mileage out of an overclocked version of snesEmu, which is faster but lacks features of snes9x (such as button remapping and sram + gamma control). so it's a trade-off, depending on which games you like.

snes rpgs + puzzle games aren't bad on GP32, fast action games are a different story.. don't hold your breath for something much better, we may (hopefully) see something but I'd bet it's going to be a long wait yet.

there's plenty of other software that runs great on GP32!!

I'm playing snes9xgp at 156mhz, which I think practically everybody can run it at. Every game that I have tried (except those really graphicy games like Mario RPG and Super Mario Kart) ran at full speed on FS 3-4, which still makes it look smooth. Maybe your standards are way too high?

I'm just saying, try it on Zsnes on the PC (or an actual real snes if you got it)
hell, even look at a comparable GBA game

then look at it on the GP32 - it looks worlds different to me. choppy and crappy, definitely not what I would say is smooth.

there's a couple 'smooth' games, here and there, but 90% seem very choppy.

I will say this, the smaller screen compensates for it somewhat, makes it less noticeable.

I am not trying to denounce GP32's ability to play SNES games. Many of them play pretty well. But if you want an accurate rendition (speed, sound) it ain't there yet, don't buy the system if that's what you're after.

I am still hopeful that it can be done with Genesis emulation, but I don't know where things stand with the 68k CPU emulation - so time will tell. That'd be pretty neat though, and doesn't seem as far fetched.
