I've read the article and other ones like criticism and AARD. I do agree that they've had their fair share of justified accusations, but for the past 10 years, they seem to get better and better.
I'm still using Win10 on my main rig (even though this is written on a Debian 8 laptop) for practical purposes, and since its launch it's been the best Windows to me.
The only downside to it is the data collection. But most of it is clearly stated and can be easily disabled on installation.
The rest is kinda moot for most users and can still be removed with simple third-party tools (open-source and easy to find). They're mostly breaking things at this point (like Skype).
Most of what they're hated for are either old grudges or their monopoly (which they can't willingly erase now, can they ?).
They're going out of their way to make amends for their past. I'm not telling you should all welcome them with open arms, but let's at least give them the benefit of the doubt.
