someone else mentioned the rattley battery case in a different forum, I only subconciously noticed it before but after reading about it I started getting kind of irritated by it (let's face it folks, our beloved little GP32 has definitely got a much lower build quality than the competition..!)
anyway I had a box for a motherboard lying around, I took a scissors and cut a little rectangle-shape of the packaging foam core about 3/4 the size of the GP32 battery case cover. The foamcore (or whatever you call it) was pretty thin ot begin with, but --just-- snugly squeezed into the battery compartment on top of the batteries. Sure, it's a lil' bit ghetto, and you have to be a little more careful when opening the thing (it feels as if it's a bit tense and the tab might snap if you are too rough with it) but for my purposes it fixes the rattle issue and makes the system feel much less 'chintzy' -- adopt if you like, ignore otherwise.
