A very simple question.

Yesterday I connected my Pandora (beta5a) to :

- USB hub (2.0) where a gamepad was connected.

USB host was on.

I tried to use the pad but apparently it was not detected.

How cna i confirm, in terminal, if it is detected or not ?

In Linux distributions there is usually a joystick tool describing the buttons detected as showing that the directions of the pad are detected as well. Is there such thing for Pandora ?

THanks for your help.

try typing in terminal lsusb. it should show you the connected devices in the port.

I will try, thank you.

Two follow up questions as bonus:

1. if I do not see anything, what could be the problem? I am already using the same gamepad on my Linux desktop without issue.

2. If it is actually detected, how do I know if the inputs are detected? And why wouldn't it come up in the emulators when I try to reassign the keys ?

Not all emulators support gamepads.

Try PCSX ReARMED or PicoDrive, those should work.

I'd like to understand why any emulator would not be able to manage gamepads - if they are recognized by the underlying system, how different is it from having a config for the Pandora D-pad and buttons in the first place?

A test procedure is on my list of things to document.

Current notes are here, I've updated it with the lsusb tip. Something like jstest does need to be ported.

Thanks for updating this on the wiki. Jstest does not exist in the angstrom repositories at this stagE?

What does it do anyway? just confirm the inputs from the joystick, right? It has no other function ?

jstest is pretty spectacular.

It detects all the usual information, and then helps you see on/off and values for every one. So you may have an input device which is 8-way but also has a sensitivity function. Hard left gives more input than moving gently to the left. For every input a column is listed and you can see a stream of the values like dmesg on crack.

I see.

How much effort required to porting it ? Does it have many dependencies?

jstest is part of the joystick package.

I don't know what is involved with just compiling jstest.

I don't know if it's useful to give information from other distributions:

= Checking Angstrom =

I found nothing on the Angstrom wiki:

The Angstrom feed browser wasn't working for me:

I poked around the Angstrom mailing lists but couldn't find any info.
