It stopped returning to a center whether the inner spring went out. Is it exchangeable?

If its still in warranty then ED will take care of fixing the nub for a new one, via an RMA process. You just need to send it to him with a note of explanation as to what is up with the unit, though he may want an email first and to send you an RMA form. If its out of warranty already, then perhaps he will fix it for a fee.

Plus you need to remember he's hella busy and once the new business plans etc are out the way, he's got at least 15 units to RMA at present but reckons he will be back to fixing these up in quick time fairly soon.

In the mean time, you should effectively disable the left nub in the nub settings by setting it to joystick mode and set the right one as mouse, then set up the game buttons as mouse buttons by following some of the tutorials on those topics. Its possible to make a shortcut key to switch the game buttons between acting as L R mouse buttons and ABXY etc I gather. Otherwise you'll find the duff left nub will interfere in some games.
