How Do I Make Panplayer The Default Player?

This is easy, the PND_Utils already have an option to make the Panplayer the default Player for Video files. Just install the utils and follow instructions. :)

How did I not know this existed? I've been doing these things by hand like a sucker!

How did I not know about this one, either? Must get this on my SD Card ASAP.

I recommend to put the Repo site to your Browser Starting page or in the speed dial. ;) So you don't miss all the nice gadgets.

However, even with the pnd utils, you have to script this stuff into the "open file with..." dialouge and AFAIK you have to do all extensions one by one, takes a while for all graphic files for example. I use gPicViewer for images because Risetto is slow and seems to hang. gPicViewer actualy has a nice option to link and open all graphic formats with it but this doesn't work onto the Pandora (surprise surprise... <_< ) So I had to use PND_utils and I'm still not sure if I did it right but however, it works. I still don't have all gfx formats linked to gPicViewer, I really wish the Pandora will get an more easy option to link file formats even to PND files, at the moment this only works with built in programms over the "open with" screen. And for PNDs you have to use the utils because the Pandora OS itself seems to not knowing what an PND file is, weird enough.

It sees it as a binary executable, because everything on FAT32 is a binary executable unless explicitly told otherwise. Of course, you don't actually execute a PND, it's run through pnd_run, so needs to be given a mime type.
I added the mime type to my Pandora and I thought it was being made official in hotfix 6, but maybe it hasn't.

I don't know because I still use Hotfix 5, I wait until Version 6 is out of beta. ^^ Selecting just any PND from within the "open file with" dialouge would be really nice.

you people gotta bring these things out in the open! was wondering what pnd util does, now how do i set midori as default browser, and how do i set audacious as default for .m3u files?

I never got the PND Midori to run as default browser. Again a missing feature of the OS. The Function that should change the default browser just don't work. :( I'm sure it can be done with some scripting and maybe with the help of the PND utils but I'm also sure it should just work like onto every PC when changing the default programs in an OS.
