How about some more moderators?

Promotheus and Wizardstan sound like excellent choices if they are so inclined.

I'd like to throw FaeMinx in the mix too as someone always trying to be friendly and positive. Foxblock seems a good bloke too.

generally the best candidate is generally the person that doesn't want it... I for one would be drunk with power if I had moderator status.

*meep*

I vote Foxblock over me!

Reasons why I shouldn't be mod:

* I'm not always around - my presence here can be sporadic. And due to my Real Life obligations there will be extended periods when I can only be here + - an hour a day or not at all.

* I regard myself as someone who still has a huge amount to learn. In this respect Blue trumps me any day! (Not to mention plenty of others far more technically minded than myself)

* Uhhhm... *scratches head* ... there must be plenty of reasons I can't think of now.

And no I'm not saying all this because I secretly want to be mod...

I'm very happy to help any way I can, but there must be others better suited to the task.

Besides, it's a lot of responsibility. A mod has to set an example and be better behaved than everyone else on the forums. (not that I have any intention to misbehave, but I've messed up a couple of times already)

Every single point makes you suitable for the job :)

Also, I give my votes to Prometheus, WizardStan, foxblock and a few more. The more we have the less a single person has to do, the less the chance someone does "too much".

Sorry Blue, but the fact that you are pushing so hard for mod status makes me nervous... and surely a mod is here not to make the rules, but to enforce them?
There are so many quotes about power and corruption:

"Who watches the Watchmen?"

"The more corrupt the State, the more laws."

"He who controls others may be powerful, but he who has mastered himself is mightier still."

"If you want to test a man's character, give him power."

But most of all I believe:

"Anyone who wants to become a politician should be made exempt from doing so." - For politician, read moderator. Same difference.

Thank you, Craig. I promise to moderate as best as I can and not to abuse mod powers.

I will also NEVER type any profanities out, let alone say anything that is even slightly offensive.

No more random pics from me as well, but if it's within context or on-topic then I may do so, as long as it's not offensive or against the board rules.

All of the above goes without saying of course.

Thanks again, mate.

A good moderator is as passive as he or she can be. Invisible (i.e. in the role of moderator) except when absolutely needed.

He or she should be calm, experienced (i.e. understanding different viewpoints), naturally respected and therefore accepted as authority. Finally, the moderator should be free of ambition, i.e. have no wish to prove his or her worth to the community.

The worst thing you can have is a moderator with plans on how to set things right.

Blue Protoman, I greatly appreciate your contributions to this community and am impressed how you managed to turn your energy into a positive force. However, in my opinion, you fail on all these characteristics of a good moderator and as such I must continue to oppose you being instated as a moderator.

[edit]Good, issue resolved. Congratulations to Prometheus and SONY on their moderator status[/edit]

Ok, Roger that! I am not the most knowlegable it seems when it comes to Pandora fixes, so I'll leave it to the experts or most certainly ask for some advice from some of you.

I agree the above and thank you for your congratulations.

To moderate is to moderate when it is purely time to do so. A mod is merely a member of the community that is invisible, but is ready pounce on a new job when one arises.

There are 2 types of mods possible here on these niche forum boards.

One is the knowledgeable mod who will most certainly be the one that will help anyone out when it comes to Pandora related issues or non-issues, even.

He or she will also make sure that other members support the help that is given, because he or she is not a "know it all" by all means, but is definitely a "go to person".

The second type of mod is someone who is always in the background, making sure everything is in order and making sure posts and topics are also where they're meant to be...because if something or someone is out of order this mod will be the one to set things straight or at least scope the situation out for a solution to a possible problem.

EDIT: Apologies, as this topic is about the OpenPandora forum boards as a whole, so I must move this to the "Offtopic General talk" area. Plus, most current and new members would rather only see Pandora general specific topics in the Pandora>General sub-forum area.

Congrats to the new mods... I wonder why WizardStan did not become one (nah not really :p ).

@Sony: I hope you really mean what you wrote earlier, from what I can tell your behaviour in the past was not very mod-worthy imho, I hope you act more sensible from now on.

He might, I just thought I'd go for two extremes to start with ;)

Ok. I think I'm gonna leave the forum where people are made mods (by someone who claims not to be an admin) because they spend their days with "GPH is shit!!111 LOl". Holy cow, whats going on here?

I hope this turns out to be a joke.

Is there an extra mod hired to remove SONY's porn pictures?

EDIT: On the other had it will be fun to see that he has to behave now. Guess I'm gonna stay for a while, just to see how it turns out. :D
