OK, here is a moral dilemma I've been having that I thought you lot could help me with :) I'm here in Australia and the summer is fast approaching. Since I picked up Earthbound on the SNES it's been hard to put it down, even when lazing on the beach, and I'm just not sure if it's a socially acceptable thing to do or not......

"Socially Acceptable" ?

I don't know .... I don't care what others think of me or my hobbies, so when someone sees me playing my gp32_console, I look up only long enough to tell them "It's like a Gameboy ... only 10,000 times better" ... then continue playing.

Fuck 'em if they don't accept you man; enjoy life on your own terms. I do :D

ok, I would say dont do it. It reminds me all too well of my friend that was having a party and would rather play counterstrike than talk to women. Then he gets mad that he never gets any play (and that I took the girl that hes wanted for a year this weekend, woo hoo is she ever good looking thats another story though) Just drop the gp32 and grab a woman and some beer and have a good time. You can play gp32 when you dont have oportunities like that (i sure as hell still have enough time)

On the first place, why do you want to go to beach? it's soooo boring... and the sunlight isn't good for playing gp32.

Aussie here. Course its exceptable. I've taken it a few times. just don't get sand on it or its gonna be a tough clean :p

Well,

If I was walking along the beach and saw a guy playing on a GP32, I would probably say Hi. Mind you, if there's two words that should never be in the same sentence, they would be "Sand" and "GP32".

I guess sociably, who cares, it's not as if you're sunbathing in the nude or anything. But, if people do say Hi, I wouldn't ignore them as you may be missing out on the friendship of a life time.

Tarra for now,
Clare.

playing on GP32 on the beach is not a good way to pick up girls. it depends on whether you care about what the people you dont know and will probably never see again think.

I took mine to the OuterBanks this summer, North Carolina. Granted, I only played it indoors in the rain, but if the Aussie beaches are anything like ours here in the US east Coast, then your sure to ruin your GP32 because wind+sand=bad for gp32.

Mind you you don't hear of too many people bringing large volumes of sand into darkened rooms and putting up umbrellas do you? Perhaps it is breaking some undefinible social taboo hitherto unearthed until this moment.

OH, OH, OH Play Earthbound for the NES next! It plays awesome on the little john emulator! That is what I was playing when I discovered my pixel died. It must have been that fight between Nes and the Lamp  Anyways it is called Earthbound Zero!

To answer your question I would be afraid of dropping it in the sand or having a crab come up and drag it into the ocean. Yeah, you better watch out for them crabs they can be tricky!

You could put your Gp32 in a ziplock and then you could play it underwater... Wouldn't that be fun? Playing the Gp32 in a baggie!

Well do what you want to do it is your Gp32. As for being social its kinda hard to talk to people when you are playing Earthbound, and I don't mean the people in the game.

it depends on what country your in if ur somewhere in the uk then perfectly acceptable if not advisable however if you where in the maldives or hawaii then it simply not done and what a waste!

Ever been to an indoor waterpark? They do that all the time. Even the sand.

well thanks for an interesting bunch of replies, to settle a few suggestions - I'm not there to pick up girls, only enjoy myself! and as for the sand thing, I'm pretty careful but if there was a wind then I wouldn't get it out..

interesting to hear what people think though as it does make you a bit self concious when some people stare, but that must be only jealousy I'm sure :D

@speedmike: cheers for the tip, I just heard about EB0 and I'll take a squizz sometime after I'm done with EB
