Have you seen the Brydge?

Beautifully done, but Why?

It converts an overpriced mobile entertainment system into an expensive netbook with an touch-centric OS.

Because there is a consistent (though not all-encompassing, of course) society of all-things-Apple that runs through the Mac crowd. Why buy a regular tablet that does the job when you can get an expensive iPad? Laptops are old news: can I connect an expensive keyboard to the expensive tablet I'm already familiar with? Now you can! And the guy who came up with this is going to be raking in money.

I don't think expensive tablets, with expensive keyboard attachments is limited to Apple:

There's obviously a demand for such things.

Kudos to the team that made the Brydge though - that thing is sexy as hell. :)
