Guys, I met my new developing hero, but he's kinda frowned upon by current law.

Dude has spent years developing a game in C++ with SFML that has 80,000 lines of code and still actually compiles. It's possibly the most epic single person freeware project I have ever witnessed. Simulates genetics for all its characters, and has stats for every detail of its world, like metabolism.

Also, it's about kidnapping loli girls and sexing them.

Should I be hanging around this dude on IRC? I mean, I want a better reason to ditch him than the obvious, because he's actually a cool dude who has never sexed anyone under 18, and I really admire his ability to dedicate himself to his work, something I can't really do. I just get the feeling this friendship could lead to trouble, so um, please talk me out of it. >_>

Ok, you're obviously having a moral dilemma so I'm going to give you some advice I wish someone had given me years ago: there is nothing that anyone is doing right now that cannot be done by someone else. Maybe it would take someone else a little longer, maybe it would take 2 or 3 someone elses to do the same thing, but the point is that no person is irreplaceable from a professional sense.
Amazing actors with histories of sex scandals? Lose 'em; there are literally hundreds of up-and-comers more than willing to take their place.
Abusive singers? We don't even need up-and-comers, there's hundreds of artists right now and you'll never notice if one drops off the top 40.
Scientists doing inhumane science? Puh-lease. If their experiments are of any actual value the results will be found eventually in more humane ways, and if it's not valuable then there was no reason to do it in the first place.
Whether we think this developers app is moral or not is irrelevant: the important thing is that YOU obviously find it immoral, and I will tell you that, at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is if you felt you lived your life well. The fact that you're asking at all means you do not feel well about it, so the answer is obvious: ditch him and forget about it. Find a new hero. You want a one-man developer that created something amazing? Consider Toby Fox, or Eric Barone. They single-handedly created two very impressive games. There are dozens, possibly hundreds over the years, of amazing programmers that have created amazing applications that have made the world an objectively better place.

I think that games should be everything one wants to create... in the end it is pure art in many ways.

@JDTAY : you are speaking like the ones that censored Carmageddon because people were going to kill pedestrians for real... unless a game contains "outlaw footage from real life", let's make people enjoy it !!

Just noting, this is the game in question:

Funny as fuck, i want to play it.

Either way, in words the game sounds like something I would be upset about, but seeing it in action it seems pretty funny and fun.

How is that worse than any game were you mutilate and kill pedestrians/civilians/whomever of any age?
I don't understand this kind of hierarchy between bad and worse, it seems extremely arbitrary to me.
Carmageddon is a good example of how some extreme things don't seem to cross the line while others do for not instantly apparent reasons.

The game above looks rather sarcastic anyway.

And many games have you killing or attacking characters in one form or another, not just the ones people usually think of as violent.

I don't see anything wrong with adult games myself. Mind you I'd be a tad hypocritical if I did, considering how many I play and also that I used to mod one back in the day.

I dunno guys, has there been any scientific studies about any links between actual child molestation and simple online images of such? Are child molestation games played by the majority of the population harmlessly, or are they almost the exclusive domain of the actual IRL child molester?

I'm with ComradeKingu on this one - the ethics and moral position of this game are unclear until we know if it's open-source or not.

really people? I don't care what sexual fetish is being catered to, but I am fairly certain rape is fucked up as a goal in a game. Not saying it should be censored/forbidden, but do we need to discuss rape games on these boards that revolve mostly around childrens retro games and have a bunch of minors participating?
