Two things:
1. GTA debut on the PC, where we have a CPU family called the Intel x86. It's, for the most part, 32-bit.
2. I put up my issues with writing a GTA re-make here (I've written one for the PC, so you would guess I'd know how to make one for the GP32).

Actually, Ravuya was saying that he made a little gta clone for pc (it had issues, though) and that this could be ported.

Grandtheftendo is the nes game (a comepletly different game than Ravuya's).

Yes it will be a free nes rom.

Will it work in LJ?

Maybe, maybe not.

The reason why is the author, Brian Provinciano, was saying that he might use a custom mapper for the game, rather than a standard one.

That would mean that the emulator would have to have code to emulate this mapper. He said he would make plugins for the pc emulators, but that wouldn't help us. LJ would have to be updated to use it.

I was replying to the "8-bit" reference at the top of the thread -- the original GTA was not 8-bit, as it was on the PC (and it's not "really old"! yikes!).

Grand Theftendo, which is an NES remake, is obviously 8-bit but isn't the original GTA game. The original debut on PC.

My reference to my own GTA clone was to explain what it would require to write a GTA-alike for the GP32. Also, eventually I'll pick it back up and get it finished and polished; I learned a lot about collisions and physics since then (although I'm sure I'll do it in OpenGL now, so it won't be straight-portable).
