Well, I finally decided to get working on a project I had been thinking about doing for a while now. After getting the stuff I needed last night, I managed to finish the first episode of my internet radio show, GPRadio.
Anyway, it isn't really the best quality, and you can definetly tell that I am not a person used to doing radio stuff, but I mostly did this episode to get a feel for it. Next week's episode will probably have alot more content (since I pretty much improvised this one). So anyway, I hope you guys enjoy it. We will have a new show next week that'll cover some more stuff and I'll probably add a few more segments. Thanks alot, and any feedback (positive criticism please, no "lol, ur show sux!") you have, please share.

The show can be found here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=K0I8VA2U (sorry about the Megaupload address, but I couldn't find any web hosting on short notice).

My email address is at: shoujofanboy@gmail.com

Thanks for listening.

You just had to mock that I say anyway far too much. Anyway, thanks for the feedback. Next weeks show will be much more useful and will be much more organized.

Not a bad first attempt. You should edit out the longer pauses (I thought it had finished several times).

I think organisation will be the key. Plan what you're going to say in more detail, then record each section.

Not that I know anything about it, I'd have done a lot worse :)

Yeah, I know the pauses are bad.I did this in gold wave and my copy and pastes weren't close enough together. I wanted them to be far enough apart though so that each part I pasted into the main file didn't overlap each other.

Thanks, I also do updates on my LJ (http://ffnoir.livejournal.com)

Also, I noticed an error in the show. When I mentioned Craig's site, I said www.gbax.co.uk when it's actually www.gbax.com. Terribly sorry Craig. I'll be sure to address this correction in the next episode)

Also, one final edit to this post. Thanks to the people at Quadragon web hosting we now have web space. Be sure to check them out if you need web hosting.

You're saying 'we' again :p

I'm listening to it right now, and so far it's a great show. The community is gaining volume, which is always a good thing!

Well, it wasn't bad for a first try, but try to be a bit more organized. I'm sure you've listened to DS radio or Retrogaming radio by Shane Monroe.

Make a script for each episode, something as for example:

- What is the gp2x
....+ specs
....+ What is it for
....+ where can you buy
- Emulators
....+ Emulator A
....+ Emulator B
....+ Emulator C
- Homebrew
....+ (same as above)

etc

Scripts are very important!
It doesn't matter if you stray of a bit, but don't overdo it. Try to keep with each part.
Also, when you do go off topic, never say it. Especially don't say that're going off-topic about going off topic. ;)

There are a lot of cracks in the sound, I assume you use a headphone (just as I, I should buy a real recorder some time), try not to move too much with it. (You could even put it on your desk and talk in it like that. xD)

I second using Audacity, it is wonderful and easy to use for removing parts, mixing, yadda yadda.

Oh yeah, and try to use 'Anyway' less.
"Anyway, eh yeah, so emulators, but, ehh, anyway, ... anyway yeah" ;)

With some more planning and editting this idea could really work out.

I don't mean to put you down or anything, I like the idea and only try to give positive criticizing. :)

I just started a podcast and I script it down to the last word - makes for a far more professional sounding product and you'll probably find you cover the same amount of content in a third of the time as well.

Ok, the next show is most likely going to be late. Band director is pushing us hard and i'm getting home late now. At latest, it'll be on next Wednesday. Earliest will be Sunday.

I am really excited about thisw project cuase Im a big podcast listener. a gamepark podcast would be great. I enjoyed the podcast but it needs tons of editing. no need for any frills or anything like sound effects or bump music but try to keep it down on the whoole 'going off topic thing" and long puases. keep it organized. be clear. do takes. dont go on the first take unless its perfect. keep the takes small so you dont have to redo really fucking long takes. yeah Im into this. keep it up!

by the way you dont have to but it would be nice if you edited the pilot heavily before release. either that or redo it. its ok but kind of chaotic.

I gotta say, I really enjoyed this podcast! :)

I read all these comments about how you should be more professional and I can't disagree more! I thought the way you kept chiding yourself for getting off topic and using 1337 speak was really funny and the long pauses just added to the charm.

I say keep going and don't overburden yourself with worrying about being professional - that will just take the fun out of it and lessen the amount of personality you can put into it. As time goes on the style will naturally become more slick and polished as you get more experienced, but I say just let it happen naturally don't stress on it.

Rough and ready is what the GP2X is all about - surely!

Oh and one other thing. You mentioned about 16bit emulators in the podcast and said that the Amiga one was too slow to play games on (I think). I agree with that but I would just like to give a mention to OutcaST - the Atari ST emulator

As an Amiga owner (yes I still have it) I like to use the ST emulator to play some of my old Amiga favourites - some of them are nearly identical. (Course I never would have admitted that back in the day ). Lotus Esprit and Stunt Car Racer for example. The ST emulator (OutcaST) runs at full speed.

Thanks for the great work, looking forward to the next one.

you know what you do have a bit of a point. I just felt a few times I got lost in the going off topic thing. thats my only compaint now I guess. it does have a little charm there considering the subject matter.
