I don't see the small screen as that big of a problem at all, especially if it's an extremely high-res screen for its size. I think if they change the screwed up controls and have WiFi, a touch screen, and set it at a low price point ($125?) to make it a sure bet over a device like Pandora or the PSP for homebrew users who don't wanna pony up; that's a device that would make money, IMO.
No, it would be a device that loses money.
Companies like Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo sell their consoles and systems at a loss as they make up the money via the sales of software.
GPH produces no software and hence makes its profits from hardware sales. Thus, I don't think they can afford a crippling price like that just because the US economy is terrible. I'd find it to be far to cheap at even £100 personally myself and that is approximately $180? I think you need to be a bit more realistic with your price point speculations as GPH cannot be expected to sell at a loss and lose all its' money.
You should brush up on your research there, buddy. Some
home consoles sell at a loss due to the cost of producing high-powered processors, GPUs, etc., but handhelds are sold for profit. Hell, Nintendo and Microsoft now sell 360s and Wiis for a profit. Given the 4:3 aspect ratio screen, probably less-than-perfect build quality, and an inexpensive SoC at the core, the device would no doubt sell for a profit, and they'd need to price it competitively with the onset of PSP/DS homebrew, as well as Pandora.
You're also assuming the United States would be their biggest consumer-base, which is most likely incorrect; GPH and GP have always traditionally marketed to European and Asian nations, with the US being a small pony show in the corner of the rodeo.
Your analysis of our economy here is pretty uninformed as well. I live in Michigan, the state with the largest unemployment rate and worst-off economy in the country, and it's hardly as if people aren't buying luxury items at high rates. Don't believe everything the socialists over at
The Times tell you about America, 'cause most of it is shit anyways.
