I want a device that can emu Snes, Gen and few other.
That could run media files, doc and images.

Better Gp32 or a pocketPC. If is better a PocketPC wich one?

hhmm well...

1. I dont think SNES is Full Speed "Yet" but Hopefully it will be soooon.
2. Havent tried the Gen Emu but I think its very playable (not sure)
3. You can run MP3's and Movies perfectly...
4. Theirs Image and Txt Viewers out their :D

hope this helps

dont buy a pocket pc.. thats what I thought about too. playing on a pocket pc sucks. You just have no playing buttons... only one of these gay pencils lol

That's right! If you need something that'll keep time for you & send emails, and play games & emulators, buy a Zodiac. It's basically a Pocket PC, but it's cheaper (about $300) and more powerfull than almost any out there right now, and has a more comfortable gaming layout.

If you want something cheaper, with most of the functions of a Pocket PC (except date-keeping, emails) and also existing emulators & other games, get a GP32 (about $150 non-front-lit).

It's basically a question of price, and whether you want emus and homebrew now (GP32) or are willing to wait several months(Zodiac).

The Zodiac is a high end (200mhz ARM CPU, 32 or 128MB RAM) Palm PDA with excellent gaming controls, two SD slots, bluetooth and a front-lit 480x320 color screen.

Currently there are just a few emulators (GBC, NES, ST, Xcade) for Palm OS. A lot of the GP32 emulator authors have ordered Zodiacs.

The bottom line is if you want a handheld console that runs a lot of emulators right now, get a GP32.

If you want a high end PDA, with excellent gaming controls and tons of potential, get a Zodiac.

I own a GP32. I have a Zodiac 2 on order.

Yeah, the Zodiac is the way to go. Currently there are many EMUS, but that's just because it was just released a little while ago.

The Zodiac is the biggest competition to the GP32 in the "gadget" department. GP32 fanboyism aside, I don't think we can write the GP32 out yet. Given Seth's questions, let's consider comparing and contrasting the pros and cons:

GP32
Pros:
- Full-speed SNES and Genesis emulation is indeed possible
- Almost decent SNES emulator already available
- Can view images and text
- Can write text
- Can view DivX movies

Cons:
- Lower capacity with SMCs
- Does not have as much potentional as Zodiac
- Cannot use an external keyboard for inputting text

Zodiac
Pros:
- Palm OS
- PDA-type stuff
- Some emulators already available through Palm OS
- Can view images and text
- Can write text w/ Palm keyboard
- Wireless Access
- Can view movies

Cons:
- Price (about $100 more)
- Most emulators already available suck right now

Now that i got informed, i think that zodiac is the worst thing i could buy because a palm with the same tech. spec. is cheap of 100$.
But now that i saw that gp32 is the cheapest one i'll buy it on march.
Also a gp32 could do almost the thing that a pocketPC can do.

Just to note, the Zodiac is unique because it is designed like a handheld console. Try playing even a NES game on a Palm Pilot can be incredibly annoying, especially if you need to use one of those plug-in keyboards. And the Zodiac will also have its own games designed for it especially.

But if you don't have a lot of money to throw around, the GP32 is probably better.

If you actually DID research the Zodiac, you would know that it include an Imageon chip, which no other palm has, which is what allows it to play 3D games. And yes, trying to play games on a PocketPC that are not made for PocketPC is extremely frustrating and stupid.
