Hey all,

I read a couple posts about upgrading the RAM for better overclocking, and it got me thinking: would it be possible to add a completely new ARM processor? You would probably have to replace a bunch of internals to accomadate the change, maybe add a more powerful battery, but it seems reasonable. It would have to be in the same family of ARM processors that the current processor is to run the firmware I'm guessing. If not, couldn't you reprogram it? Make it into a new, funkified GP32?

Just a thought

well i need to go to the hospital from my sides splitting     thats the craziest thing EVER  it MAY be possible if you got a processor with theEXACT same pinout and instruction set  which isn't that impossible its just soldering it in that would be a pain in that butt. you may be able to get another arm9 processor form the same manufacturer that would work.... MAYBE

hmm replacing the cpu and ram...
build your own handheld :D
would be nearly the same i think...

Well Darkfader already studied this possibility, and he concluded that it would be to hard to do, because there would be tiny differences in pinout that you'd have to compensate by soldering a number of extremely thin wires...

here's what he said:

CPU upgrade

I get a lot of questions about upgrading the CPU...
Just forget it and buy some PDA. Incompatible pin-layouts of other similar chips would require a LOT of small wires.
