Can anyone shed some light on this problem Im having with my 2x?

I installed art103's uboot and all went well. Now when I turn on with start held I get the menu no problems.

From this menu I have tried to update the firmware to 1.4 (from 1.0.1) but it doesnt actually work.

I am using an Integral 1GB card that came with my unit from GBAX and I have formatted the card to FAT32 and placed the gp2xkernal onto the card. From the menu I am choosing update firmware and after a few seconds the updating firmware image briefly appears on the screen (only stays displayed for approc 3 seconds) then the black screen with 'gp2x booting...' message appears. The green progress bar starts at the bottom of the screen but only reached about a quarter of the way across the screen before disappearing. The unit then stays stuck on this screen no matter how long I leave it.

I can get the unit to the green screen by putting the kernel.img on the card and selecting 'boot from MMC' option in the uboot menu but it stays on the green screen with firmware 1.4 displayed but goes no further.

can anyone help me fix this problem?

Any help much appreciated!

Note: I have also tried with another 16mb card formatted to FAT with exactly the same results.

Why not put a third-party U-Boot on there? Art103's U-Boot is just fine. It's tested and working.

Does it upgrade gp2xkernel.img normally with a normal U-Boot?

dang homie, don't put a third party uboot on your gp2x! Try flashing to the 1.0.1 uboot.

Actually, U-Boots working so he should leave it at that and not even think of updating it again ;). Not unless he wants to make things worse.

I’ll have a think about options for recovering the kernel and FS but the only real options are to reflash the kernel then the root file system from the menu in U-Boot and keep retrying, flashing the ROOTFS can take several attempts and each attempt can take a few hours ;). Just take a look at the unbricking guide for info on doing that.
