Wayhay. theres actualy a bit about the GP2X in the 'Mail on Sundays' magazine.

They gave it 4 out of 5 and best budget buy in there handheld video play off.

Cant think what they were watching though :)

Cool. I assume they were just testing it as a video player though? Because when it works, it works very well. If they can sort out the codec issues, the GP2X will be one of the best budget handheld video players around.

Plus you get all the games and emulators as an added bonus :p

BEST BUY
GAMEPARK GP2X £125(64Mb) Battery Life(film/music)6/10 hours Using it No hard drives so music and movies must be stored on memory cards. Plays well through your TV as well as a 3.5in screen. Also plays games copied from your computer. Runs on AA batteries so doesn't require a charger.

Verdict Easy to use and comfortable to hold, but you will need a deceent-sized memory card(sold seraretly).

Ok, please don't flame me for this. That blurb would seem to indicate they based their review on the specs, and not actual testing? No-one is getting 6/10 hours at the moment , and the tv-out mode for video isn't working to spec either is it?

Not that I'm complaining, good to see the GP2X getting some good press.

Wow, an advert in EDGE, and a recommendation by a popular UK broadsheet, beaten only by the iPod and the archos in terms of stars given  Looks like the GP2X may actually get some decent mainstream recognition. Looks like I'd better hurry up and order off gp2x.co.uk (gbax.com ;)) soon, or they'll all be gone and preordered for the next year :p

You know, a few weeks ago (maybe a month, don't remember) the GP2X appeared in the Media section of the Metro newspaper (free paper given to users of public transport in Belgium, so a here a copple million people red it 2, or saw it anyway, that's when i registered on this site (remembered gamepark's GP32, but wasn't interested back then)

So, hopefully in a few weeks I'll be reading the digital version of the metro on my gp2x ;)

There's metro here in the UK as well, but I don't pick it up because I don't take the train.
