HI there im a bit new to this STILL i had a gp2x f100 model till it broke .so i have a bit no how on the gp2x sceane.ANYWAY to the problem in hand i n get my hands on a cheap gp2x f200 but i think it could as you boys put it on these pages.problem 1) the machine boots up but DOES NOT read memory cards and the touch screen no longer works, ibealeave this happend after this person updated to firm wire 4.1.1.any help on this would be most helpful ie other fireware updaes,i have a cradle so i dont no if that help.like been able to connect a usb memmory stick,if the gp2x will still interface with it

Nothing can be done. The card won't read because the connectors are 'dead'.You would need to replace the whole 'card-reader-slot' bit of the machine which would be hard as its soldered to the motherboard. As for the screen, its probably working, the issue with it is not hardware related but because of firmware incompatibility, you should have left firmware 4.Not much can be done once the wrong firmware is installed it will disable the touch-screen functions. And aside from sending the machine back, not much else can be done. Also,as they are not being produced anymore you won't be able to send it back for another one.Anyway,as your card-slot is dead, even with the right update you will not be able to use your machine for anything.(You won't be able to repair let alone run emu on it ).Just use it for spare parts or sell it on the 'bay', but in that condition,I'm afraid it's useless. You'd be lucky to get more than a few quid for it.

Noone knows if the card slot is dead, as no troubleshooting has been done. The proper thing to do would be to blow it out with some canned air. Remove the batteries and liberally put some isopropyl alcohol on an SD card's contacts and insert it into and out of the slot several times, then blow it out again with canned air.

If it still doesn't read cards, make sure they are repartitioned and reformatted as FAT32. Try using a different card reader (you can get them very cheaply off dealextreme.com)

If that doesn't fix the problem, you might still have a software issue, as sometimes people have reported success trying installing a
new firmware.

Download this firmware:

Disregard the note about F200B models. It should work. Extract the firmware to the root of a freshly formatted non-SDHC SD card. You should see gp2xkernel.img and other misc files in the root of the SD. Boot with START+SELECT held. If you don't see a firmware installing screen, then you might have hardware issues.

What was the previous (original) firmware, FW 4.0.0 or 4.0.2?

If FW 4.0.2, then DO NOT update it to FW 4.0.0; that will just brick the unit. Use FW 4.0.2 instead, then update back to FW 4.1.1, as FW 4.0.2 has compatibility problems.

Links to the firmwares:
CODE
FW 4.0.2

FW 4.1.1

If FW 4.0.0, then just use the one Senor Quack linked to; no real need to update back to FW 4.1.1, as it has its own set of problems.
