I got my joystick replacement in the mail the other day.
Didn't get it from DaveC, but the other vendor that was suggested
(I would have got it from DaveC, but some people thought
he was out of stock at the time)
... I cant even remember what website I bought it from.. (how sad is that)
DaveC - is your replacment rubber by chance? Or is it the same thing?

Anyways... first thing I noticed is that it is plastic. I was hoping for a rubber stick
Although it is concaved which helps, I still feel like I may slip around on it since it is plastic.

The next thing is the amount of rotation you get from this thing.
Wow.
Going from Straight up to Straight down is not a small task anymore.
The stick sits up pretty high (to allow the edges to not hit the GP2X)
And there is a lot of 'lean' to it. I still haven't figure out if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
Its kind of strange having to tilt the stick over so far to get it to work, but it seems
to respond a little better than the original stick that came on the GP2X.

I can play a game of Jr. PacMan on Mame and have pretty good control.

Was it worth $15? (including shipping) I guess so.
PSP has replacment packs (qty: 5 various sizes in one pack) for less than this
but since there aren't many options - this will work.

Rating= 3.5 out of 5 (original stick: 2 out of 5)

It can go lower, and should ... you'll feel the difference right away. It was designed to sit as low as possible to shorten the throw distance. It also rocks very much (as in coolness, not actually rocking physically ... which would be silly) (I have one, as does my wife and my 2 co-workers :))

It rocks very much... those are the words I was looking for.

This is all the first posters fault for not being specific. He does have a DaveC cap but he brought it from Gp32z.com. He just said 'the other distributer' as he is obviously to ingnorant to ype a five letter website same or is too bieve to understand that there may be similar version available but different caps and vendors.

I do believe the picture you show us is DaveC's cap, it has been carried by the US distributor gp32z.com.

That *should* be Nylatron GS, some form of metal-laced Nylon.

Hard stuff then? I can see why you may have mistook it for plastic.

Is that stick included on the MKII I'm getting from gp32z?
No, MKII have a new GPH stick.

I am unsure of the material, but they have a "pointed cone" in the middle, it is unmistakable.

I am aware of that, and I always have been, BUT I HEARD that SOME DISTRIBUTORS included DaveC's cap with GP2X orders.
Oh, I would ask them about it, I wouldn't know that.

It might have been that way for a while, on the MKI units.

Are you getting a MKI or a MKII?

Edit: PM Jr2swiss on the board, it is his shop.

If I buy the MKII GP2X, should I use the new joystick cap that comes with it, or buy DaveC's? Which one is better?

Hello Sam Fisher.
"to ignorant to ype a five letter website?" If you would have actually read my 1st post, I stated:

"... I cant even remember what website I bought it from.. (how sad is that)"

And yes, I understand that there are similar versions available.
Once again, if you would have read my post, it is quite clear that I knew DaveC sold the
cap as well as "the other distributor that I couldn't remember".

Why do you have to insult someone like that who has never brought crap your way?

We could go on and on about your spelling and say you are too Ignorant to type all of the
letters of your words, but I wouldn't do that to someone. I'm not that way. (and what the hell is 'bieve'?)

Have a crappy day.
