Google Play (Google Android Market Store) Thread

Not all apps show up on the Play store. Depends on support for the device using.

This game is only available for a handful of LG devices I think, not sure if it will ever release for all Androids.

That Samsung is probably a crack apk

Edit: just checked, it is no longer LG exclusive but as of May on other devices in US store only i think... so you probably accessing the Aus one eh? Not in my UK one either. Perhaps if you just d/l the apk it will instal, have to source elsewhere though as wont be in your Play

Thank you.

And yeah, I most certainly am accessing the Australian Store. How do I access the USA Store?

By the way, my tablet isn't rooted, so I don't think I can just install apks. :(

This thread is rather well-timed, as I actually have a question relating to the Android Market right now.

I recently happened across the Android x86 project, as I wouldn't mind it as a secondary option on a netbook for certain applications - and due to the severe lack of ARM netbooks that support both Linux (what I actually want to use the majority of the time), and Android, as a dual-boot system, this seems like it may be the best approach (there don't seem to be any readily-available netbooks in my region which use the SoC from the MK802, which has what I want available and working nicely). However, Android x86 can't allow for the official store to be provided out-of-the-box, and they only provide instructions relating to a third-party app-store. Does anyone know if the official store can be set up on Android x86?

Prometheus, Google Play works on Android x86 and you can try it out on virtual machine pretty easily. :)

1. Install Virtual Box from here https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

2. Import the Virtual Box appliance file "buildroid_vbox86t_ 4.0.4_r1.1-20120530_gapps.ova" from here http://www.buildroid.org/blog/?p=159

3. Start the virtual machine, that's it!

ICS in the virtual machine with market access. B)

I can see all my purchased Android apps, but many of them are not installable (not compatible with the device).

I assume this is mostly because NDK apps are not (yet) supported by Android x86...

Notes:

If you get a VERR_INTERNAL_ERROR when starting the virtual machine, change network adapter 1 to NAT (I had to do that).

When the screen is locked, press HOME button on the keyboard and than move the slider.

To release the mouse in Virtual Box, press the right CTRL button on the keyboard.

^ Thanks muchly. I'll have a mess around with that later.

This is why I love this place. Everyone's so damn helpful. :)

Ok maybe look into this Sony?

As per this sentence from Wikipedia, although it's about the Kindle Fire, I don't see why it wouldn't work, it's just a means of 'side loading' from other sources - In your case, the US Play or the .APK for SF.

http://en.wikipedia....ng_(Android_OS)

"As of 2012 the Amazon Kindle Fire is locked to the Amazon app store instead of Google Play, and other vendors of Android devices may lock to other sources in the future. Access to alternate apps may require rooting but rooting is not always necessary. As an example, for the Kindle fire it is possible to load the "easy installer" app from the Amazon app store and then use it to "sideload" apps from any source."

Maybe this will work?

Easy Installer app, this is available in Play and hopefully will be in your Aus Play too:

I'm thinking that you 'might' be able to install the Street Fighter .APK directly from your SD card using the 'Easy Installer' app, which you should be able to find within your Australian version of Play market.

Or, you might even be able to install the US version of the Play market by sourcing the .APK and using the 'Easy Installer' to run it?

There's a link to the Play installer on this page, though I'm not certain it is the US one, I suspect it is, though I've not done this myself so when you install it your device might route you to install your local version?

well that would probably involve visiting some dubious sources, I doubt it is officially available anywhere as its a paid app and would likely only be available for purchase via the Play markets... the US one at least.

If you cant source that, or don't want to for ethical/moral reasons, I would try installing the US Play Market .apk, using the Easy Installer, then with some luck you will be able to launch the US version on your device and will then be able to search within there and find the official SFIV add, I suspect it will then install ok for you, once paid for it of course.

...My only concern is that when trying to install the US version of Play, it might be detected somehow and prompt you to install the Aus one / or simply deny the install.

I don't know as not done this, just was reading up on it following your post.

Would connecting via a proxy work for this?

There's another way to trick Play as to which region you're in, but again only for rooted devices, using the app mentioned here

http://theunlockr.co...ferent-country/

Now you mention the Proxy method, if you appear to be coming from the US I don't see why that wouldn't work.

Use your web browser to access the Play market you mean then d/l the app.

Don't see why that wouldn't work

edit:

Just looking at location spoofing, you might want to see if you can install this app:

https://play.google....ationspooferpro

that lets you set your location, which you could set to somewhere in US, then you may see the SFIV in your Play app after that?

Thats the paid version of the app, there is a free version with less features though

If you mean your question of where can you locate the SFIV .APK file ... I probably can't link/mention that in here as the locations it is available on are probably illegal copies of the .APK file

Seeing it's a paid app, the legit way is to get it via the Play store only I would imagine.

It is out there, along with many other paid apps, but these places are not so legit I don't think.

I would try the spoof app method on your tablet, or the proxy browser method on your desktop ... to access the Play store and see if you can d/l the app that way.

If I google for the .APK file I am confident I would find it, but to link that place in here would likely be a rule breaker, and I don't want warnings added to my good username

Oh well, I'll never be able to play it on my tablet then, as I don't want to source it illegally.

Ok, I'll try the spoof app this weekend.
