Well i'm going on a roadtrip tommorow about 10 hours driving to biarritz from belgium here. So i want to prepare my gp2x, i already gotten a second 2 gig card just for movies but now i want some games as well.
Since i only know some obvious games for like mario all stars, zelda, secret of mana, sonic i'd like to get some suggestions cause it's a pain in the ass to test them all out. i don't need any games for mame since i have most of them on my card already

so what games do u think i should get with me for snes , megadrive, gameboy , game gear ?

I kinda liked the Hook game for Gameboy, to be honest... That was a few years ago, though.

Anyway, you should bring the Mario games... for any given Nintendo machine. Mario mario mario.
And Castlevania.
Bard's Tale for the NES.
Zelda.

I'm just being obvious here.

deepmenace's avatar just reminded me of this:

Secret of Monkey Island (ScummVM)
You might want to download an faq for this and bring it along as it is easy to get stuck

Snes:
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 4/5/6
etc.

Also, if you're willing to try out SCUMMVM (you should!) I would recommend:
Day of the Tentacle
The Secret of Monkey Island
Full Throttle

Have fun!

My faves:

Strategy:
Military Madness - Turbografx
Warsong - Genesis

Fighting:
SNK VS Capcom - Neo Geo
King of Fighters 2003 - Neo Geo
Samurai Showdown 5 Special - Neo Geo

Shooting:
Metal Slug Series - Neo Geo
Blazing Star - Neo Geo
Time Pilot/Gyruss/Jackal - Mame
Duke Nukem 1 - Dosbox

Pinball:
Devils Crush - Turbografx
Psycho Pinball - Genesis

and:

Super Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium - SNES

super fun.

yo deadly!

i am just playing thru chrono at the moment and truly loving it. however, its the first time in the future and i am having to constantly flick thru layers to get text/clouds/hitpoints to appear/disappear. Does this keep happening well into the game or is it pretty rare?

I'm playing through Metroid II on the GB now, great fun. There's also Super Metroid for SNES, and of course the original for NES.

Get NK's newest SNES emulator. Savestates are compatible, so just copy your rom and save files over to the new directory where you install NK's emulator, then play through that part (it's a little slower, but transparencies work), then copy all the stuff back to the directory with Squidge's emulator in it, so you can play through the rest of the game at full speed.

I'm going to recommend some more unusual titles (and some lesser-known classics) most other people probably wouldn't, since you said you know all the more common ones. Give them a shot, you'll be glad you did. :)

Genesis:
- Gunstar Heroes (semi-common)
- Vectorman 1/2
- Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco 2: Tides of Time
- M.U.S.H.A.
- GleyLancer
- Strider
- Panorama Cotton
- Contra Hard Corps
- F-15 Strike Eagle II
- F-117 Stealth Operation Night Storm
- Rocket Knight Adventures a.k.a. Sparkster
- Kawasaki Superbike Challenge
- Road Rash 1-3
- Street Racer

SNES:
- Sparkster
- Raiden
- Sparkster

GAME BOY:
- Quarth (the Tetris-Killer.)
- Super Mario Land 2

GAME GEAR:
- The whole Sonic series, spare Labyrinth and Blast, the atrocities.
- Tails' Adventure (an excellent side-scrolling action game with weapons and items galore)
- Power Rangers (surprisingly solid fighting game)
- Jurassic Park (Better than the Genesis version, strangely.)

NES:
- Armadillo
- Gremlins 2
- Captain Skyhawk
- Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers 1/2
- Duck Tales 1/2
- Guerilla War
- Kirby's Adventure
- Kung Fu
- Tiny Toon Adventures
- Gun Smoke

Have a fun trip. :)
