Exiting (Click+Start) while a song is playing causes the GP2X to freeze and requires a reboot.

This should be fixed in the current release (0.1.3). You are probably still using 0.1.2 or earlier.

You can download it here: http://wejp.k.vu/projects/gmu/gmu-0.1.3.zip

Besides the bugfix for the bug mentioned above this release includes the following new features:

- Support for MP3 files with sampling frequencies other than 44.1 kHz
- Optional volume control in hold state (can be enabled through the config file)
- The current track can be removed from the playlist (player will skip to the next track)
- Optional display backlight power-off after some seconds (can be enabled through the config file, any number of seconds is possible)

I have released Gmu 0.2.0!

New features in this version:

* In the playlist view items are shown with their tags (when available) instead of the filename
* I've written a new ID3 tag parser that supports both ID3v1 and ID3v2
* Horizontal scrolling is now possible in both the playlist browser and the file browser
* In Random mode already played items are marked with a 'o'
* Gmu includes a cover viewer

Classic. The cover display is something that I've wanted in a player for some time now, and it's almost painless too. Just add the song to the playlist, make sure a cover image is in the same folder, play from the playlist and hit select to see it :)

Nice one, wejp!

(I take it I still need to set up the playlist manually in Gmu, right?)

[EDIT] wejp, does it matter what the cover images are named? Right now all the ones I have are named "folder"

You can either create a playlist manually, or load a m3u playlist. Gmu can remember its current playlist on exit so when you start it next time, you can continue using the last playlist. (It is stored in playlist.m3u.) If you don't like that you can disable it in the config file.

By default Gmu searches for jpg files in the directory of the playing song and picks the first one it finds. You can change that behaviour in the config file (gmu.conf). It is set to *.jpg. You could change it to folder.jpg or anything else you like. For details about that take a look at the README.
You can use * an ? as wildcards.
