This may just be my belief but humans have detached themselves from nature based on the fact that we have the power to overcome natural selection. We can attempt and even succeed in stopping our own demise. No other form of life can say the same.
Seriously, though, humans are certainly not immune to natural selection. Why do you think we are?
I believe he's referring to our demise as a SPECIES. Also, I don't believe natural selection applies here. Regardless of our traits we won't be picked up by another species unless aliens come down from space and take over the planet ;p
