Getting Vdub To Recognise Xvid Codecs

Got it sorted!

I googled for "xvid final release", found it and installed it. I was going to replace the .ax file with the one from the older release reccommended by entware. But just out of curiosity, I used the new codec to encode an episode of "the Prisoner" using the two-pass encoding guide found here: http://www.waystation.mcmail.com/. I might tweak the settings slightly to improve brightness / contrast etc, , but it worked!

So: The "1.0 final" build of Xvid works for GPCinema!

My setup:

GPCinema (non-free version; haven't tested with the free version)
Overclocked to 133mHz

File encoded using:
latest release of virtualdub
latest ("1.0 final") release of Xvid codec
settings in this guide: http://www.waystation.mcmail.com/

::EDIT::
A very helpful user of the unofficial Virtualdub support forum has told me what caused the dissapearing codec problem and how to solve it. The explaination and cure is here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24305

Interesting. My findings (w/ the free version & the latest Koepi XviD) were:

320x240 15fps No worky. Resets the Gamepark
audio settings tried w/ it: 24kbit x 22050mono, 24kbit x 11025 stereo. (First I tried audio settings that weren't 11025, 22050,etc. like 24000.)

all reset the Gamepark :( Can anyone else confirm that the latest 1.0 final Koepi build doesn't work for the free version of GPCinema?

tonight I will install the latest version of XviD again and try it on 320x176 to see if resolution does in fact make a difference for it.

But those audio settings did work at 320x240 15fps w/ the very old version of XviD on Entware's site.
