Hi everyone, it's been ages since I've been in these forums. Suddenly there's that new gizmo with the built-in things that everyone's after, people are talking about a Craiginator or something (???) and Daclassicgamingmaster's finally got a Gamate. Good for him!

Anyway, I was just hoping that someone, anyone would be able to help fulfill my list fetish needs by referring to back issues of Retro Gamer (UK), and providing me with their:

25 Greatest Platformers Of All Time Ever (etc)

and their

25 Greatest Run & Gunners In The World Ever.

Please?

I got the magazine, but I cannot find it anymore. I just can tell you that Nr. 1 was not Gunstar Heroes (only rank 3). It was also a game by Treasure, a Japan only 3d N64 game called Sin & Punishment.

I say here here for Sin and Punishment getting best run and gun game in GamesTM. Absolutely brilliant game. Got it on my Wii. Hopefully treasure will se fit to make a sequel to it for the Wii.

Sin & Punishment, eh?
Nice coincidence there, I just downloaded the ROM for that yesterday, haven't gotten round to playing it yet though. My pad won't work with emulators on my new laptop :(

Still, the list would still be nice see. Please to anyone?
Blab. I like lists.

Aha! It wasn't in GamesTM after all, it was in Retro Gamer (the one with Doom on the cover). Here's the list for anyone who cares:

25-Rendering Ranger: R2 (SNES)

24-Rex (ZX)

23-Shinobi (Arcade)

22-NARC (Arcade)

21-Rolling Thunder 2 (Arcade)

20-Alien 3 (MD)

19-Nam-1975 (Neo Geo)

18-The Chaos Engine (Amiga)

17-Sunset Riders (Arcade)

16-Mercs (Arcade)

15-Rapid Reload aka Gunners Heaven (PSX)

14-Elevator Action Returns (Arcade)

13-Jet Force Gemini (N64)

12-Alien Breed (Amiga)

11-SmashTV (Arcade)

10-Midnight Resistance (Arcade)

9-MDK (PC)

8-Turrican II (Amiga)

7-Ikari Warriors (Arcade)

6-Shock Troopers (Neo Geo)

5-Metal Slug (Arcade)

4-Contra III (SNES)

3-Gunstar Heroes (MD)

2-Robotron 2084 (Arcade)

1-Sin & Punishment (N64)

Quite a nice list if you ask me. Only six that I haven't played, nothing a good emulator won't fix. Kinda puzzled about MDK though, I played that on the Dreamcast, didn't really bring Metal Slug to mind. But what would I know?
