I've heard this from several sources and reliable GP32 sites that gamepark is INDEED an ex-branch of nintendo, and I was wondering, is this true, and does anyone have any bit of history on how/why this happened???
Also another mystery, early GP32 prototype (the red folding one) compared to the GBA SP released now that GP32 is getting more popular.... Or GP-I compared to it...
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery some say....
i think personaly the nintendo GBS SP design is more likely to be based on nintendos own Game and Watch LCD hand held games from the 80`s, e.g donkey kong jr was foldable just like the GBA SP
maybe your thinking of the Matsushita connection??
Matsushita helped Gamepark construct the GP32.
BUT:
Matsushita also created and supplied the mini-DVD technology for the GameCube, AND:
Matsushita own Panasonic who have their Q console
(basically a DVD player and GameCube hybrid/mutant )
I can just hear the conspiracy theories already...
V. interesting, reminds me of Sony's history ... perhaps Gamepark were helping with parts or something for the GBA, but got kicked off and instead launched their own kit ? Just like with Sony, Nintendo probably thought an upstart like Gamepark had no chance of beating them, of course, with free emulation this might all change later
