Full Refund?

I still don't see the refund in my balance, but AMEX reports my credit limit is 304$ higher than it normally is, so I think that is ..... based on this.

It does seem to be quite low though, as I paid 451.42$ originally, (247.76 GBP)

That's quite a big hit if the refund comes out to be this low.

Again, not something I blame these guys for... but pretty annoying. I definitely will be slower to do any international preorders in the future.

Seriously, you guys are freakin' awesome and I'm not being sarcastic. I guess if you are reordering then you won't lose much, if anything. If you aren't reordering and are out $150 and aren't totally ticked off...I'm speachless. You guys here are way too nice.

Well, I just don't see it as something I can get pissed at the Pandora guys for. It's not like they charge the fees or make deals with international governments to slam the currency or improve it's value.

This is a volatile time. My only frustration with them is that I wish they had known about this before starting the preorders. I'm sure this is a hindsight is 20-20 thing.

Xanas, I'd check on that since I don't think the exchange rate has changed enough to explain that large a discrepancy. Maybe only part of the total has been added to your credit limit?

And check back through the account - people have reported it as going on the statement with an earlier date than when the balance changed. In might be good to post again when you've gotten to the bottom of it before some round here start quoting your figures as gospel fact that everyone will lose $150 - that is way too big a difference by the way.

edit:typo

Correct me wrong, but didn't the devs say (multiple times) that when reordering, you just have to pay what you were refunded (=no money lost or gained)?

It's only if you decide not to re-order that you have to worry about losing money.

I can confirm that - my refund showed up on balance with a date nearly two months in the past - right after the actual payment.

So did mine.
The interesting thing was that when I called up the credit card account by telephone, and did the automated account activity thing, the voice started with "October 4th, $290.92, credit". So the voice menu pointed out the refund first. However, when I got home and looked at the online statement, I had to page down to October 4th to see the transactions.

That should blow a few conspiracy/scam theorists. Openpandora would not be able to backdate it like that.

The day you reorder, just call your credit card company and ask what the amount you were refunded is in GBP. So if you were refunded 300 USD, just ask what that number is in GBP (using your credit card companies current exchange rate), and that's what you should be paying in the order form. Since credit card transactions are handled instantly, the exchange rate won't have time to change, so you will be paying the exact amount you were refunded in your local currency. Unless the order form accepts local currency (USD, CDN, etc.), this is the only solution I see for people to not be losing any more money from this whole screw up.

It's the card company relating it to the original purchase, that's all. Mine was dated similarly in my statement too. The catch is that it's processed at the rate at the time the transaction was refunded, even though it appears 'backdated'. If the transaction was actually 'cancelled' then everything would be back to normal, but either too much time had elapsed or not a lot of consideration of the implications went into this.

Hmmm I've got a new conspiracy theory, and like some others I'm gonna expose it here with broad assurance although I have no proof ^^
I think that the strongest negative voices here are actually people employed by some internet intelligence / misinformation specialised company (maybe based in the us as most complaints come from there and concerns the US way of doing business, but that could be a deceit as well) mandated by a consortium of sony/nintendo/microsoft and spreading negative messages about a handheld that will just show how bad they are at spending shareholders millions and not achieving half the performances nor better design sturdiness than the pandora!

Someone else up for conspiracy theories ?

No, but this thread has now passed its expiration date. The original question has been answered many times.
