free gp32 divx player

For starters, GPCinema is well worth the money. Its rare, I think, that I've had something so economically worthwhile (considering the average computer game costs £20 and lasts about 30 hours max before boredom sets in, and this thing cost £5 and lasts... as long as you can be wossnamed to encode the movies).

That said, the free DivX players aren't too poor. GpDivX 0.3 prealpha definitely runs things fairly well - but it doesn't support MP3s (so you have to encode sound uncompressed at the lowest possible quality if you don't just want an unintelligable buzz) and doesn't have a frame limiter (so more actioney bits mess up, become out of synch, etc), quite apart from not being anything like as efficient...

There was another player which arrived on the scene a short while later, which was what first attracted me to the movie side of the GP32 - it's actually pretty good (15fps, 320x240 only) but has a limit of 6 minutes of encoded video, and no file selector - you have to have everything called "GundamOP.avi" in the GP:\\ directory, and move them about when you want to watch things. For movies, its fairly poor, but for music vids, you'd find it acceptable, I think.

But GPCinema is a few thousand times better. Well worth it.

GPMP? Something like that; its certainly listed in the apps section of this site, so if there IS anyone who wants to give it a shot, try there. Its certainly good, its just not much good for movies (although its not *too* inconvenient to move stuff around every few minutes)

Also, I remember it being a pain to install; you had to install a music/text viewer first, THEN copy over the .fxe file for the movieplayer. Again, hopefully you'll find more detailed instructions through searching news and checking the download area. Its been a while since I fiddled with it...

Check the bitrates and such using the GundamOP.avi file that's included in the download (the demo movie - also the name everything has to be)
