The new version of FlashPlay has better mouse support, and will be found here when it's updated (look for the version number):

http://www.gp2x.de/cgi-bin/cfiles.cgi?0,0,0,0,8,1083

Compatability is very low, and so far all I can get to play are some of the examples provided with the library source. This release should also be slightly faster and not die with MP3 decoding errors because all sound support has been removed from the library (instead of having it but not playing). B is mouse-button click, and start is exit. It needs to be run with a script in order to play files.

This player is a port of flirt, which can be found at http://flirt.sourceforge.net/.

PM me if you would like the library (libflirt.a) or the source.

Just a reminder from flashplay v0.1 for how the script works and such.

I have only gotten a handful of flash cartoons to work.

Using firefox with this plugin you can download online flash cartoons to test.
http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=2794
(restart firefox to enable plugin)

At eskimo bob, I have tried episode 1, under episodes (click on bob to enter the site)
http://www.eskimobob.com

With the firefox plugin, start episode 1, right click anywhere except on the cartoon (ie. somewhere in the background of the browser), and select embedded download.

The script should simply be a text file (created in notepad, not wordpad) called bob.gpe, place it and the flashplay executable in some folder (/flash)
with the text
./flashplay bob.swf

where you have renamed the bob episode 1 to bob.swf, and placed that in the same folder.

Enjoy.

Please do not use notepad for GP2X scripts, as it will put CRLFs on the end of the lines which the GP2X doesn't like. Use Programmer's Notepad (freeware, Google it) to make scripts and set line endings to LF, or more easily, use the Selector or the new Unify.

In other news, I've added a compatibility list to the wiki: http://wiki.gp2x.org/wiki/FlashPlay

UPDATE: It turns out the new version will not work with Flash movies with sound, I am fixing this at the moment (and at the same time hopefully adding sound support).

ANOTHER UPDATE: Libflirt is in early stages, and is therefore not much use for this. Instead I am restarting the project with gameswf.

Nice. Thanks. I am an Actionscript 2 Programmer, and would love to make games for the GP2x, as my C is very low right now. This is great!

Also, I use Notepad++ which has a menu option to convert the current text file from Mac to Windows to Unix formats. Its pretty cool

Get the URL out of the HTML, then paste it into google
then download off of that.

EDIT: Or get Firefox.

For those with IE and a bastard brother that apparently loves popups and wont let them use Firefox:

Tools> internet options> (under temporary internet files) settings>view files

This opens yout IE temp directory and you can either search or just skim through for the SWF files. I meantion this method because some websites use scripts that hide the SWF location or make their directories impossible to access the file directly to do a "save as".

Of course with Firefox it's as easy as:

Tools> Page info> "media" tab> find Swf file and hit the "save as" button.

Find links to some WMF format exploits and show your borther how they can open a shutdown dialog. Then explain to him that won't happen in FireFox. (Not true, but hey.)

Also, kicking said brother would be legitimate. Or you could install Opera...

Anyway, tried this with Nanaca Crash, no go. When Nanaca Crash runs, I think I'll need a cave and a year's supply of Instant Lunch.

For reference: isn't there a general OpenFlash project? Any reason that couldn't be ported? I don't imagine the interpreter being all that large... i'm confused as to why you seem to using libs that are questionably supported...

Yeah I should have warned you that was the first one I tried with the last version, and since removing sound support apparntly shrank the already tiny number of playable videos I had serious doubts it would have worked in the new version.

The reason being that most other flash libs I've found use libraries other than SDL for graphics (some use OpenGL), and quite a lot of other libs that aren't supported. I'm currently trying to find a suitable library. In the meantime, I'm also trying to fix this one.

Well as long as there's Flash, I really appreciate what has been done so far and this is one of the most exciting things on the 2x in my opinion!
