i will either run fgb32 or fgen32 first. if fgen32 is as fast as drmd then it will be awsome especialy if it will save game data. it a little anoying how drmd doesnt save game data like in sonic3, but im not complaining with a speed like that :)

I am really looking forward to fnes. I remember hearing a lot about this emulator and expecting it to be released right around the time that little john was released. I love the nes it is probably my favorite console ever. I remember a time when nes emulation on the gp32 was pretty bad. There was a time when there was a lot of talk about fnes and little john but I think due to the fact that little john was released first and was such a greah release fnes was never released. Don't get me wrong little john is a great emulator and I have played games with it probably more than any emu on the gp32 but it would be nice to finally see what fnes is like. I would really like to see how this emulator runs, and I am sure it will be a top notch release.

I am also really looking forward to the neo-geo pocket emu and the wonderswan. Both systems are emulated on the gp32 right now but the current emulators while fine releases could use some work. Any new emulator release of these two systems should be interesting simply because there is so much potential for these two platforms to be emulated much better than they are on the gp32 in their current states.

If fGEN32 has better sound than DrMD v2, I'll be won over. v1 of DrMD had excellent sound, but for some reason v2 while adding DAC support also made the existing sound sound somehow more strained and not as pretty as v1 (the music in Ristar, for example, doesn't sound nearly as nice for some reason).

Other than that, fNGP32 and fWS32 have me excited; fNGP32 because of the fighting games and Sonic, and fWS32 because of final fantasy (which runs slow on the SNES & doesn't look as pretty on the NES). The fGB32 teaser is already almost perfect, (but for some reason I can't load my savesates from the first public fGB32 release... can anyone help?) but that was actually the one I was looking forward to the most.

fMSX might be very good as well, but I'm not really sure how to start MSX games & I'm a little scared of trying (I haven't tried the new fMSX32 yet)...

fSMS32... well, the emulator SMS32 is already fullspeed and quite good. It's only lacking savestates (saves are supported), which would be nice but not absolutely necessary.

I don't care much about the really old consoles/computers, though. So I vote for everything except  fZX32, fCOL32 & fCPC32. ;-)

Shame on you !!! Tons of great games on those older systems !!!

Thank god most people dont have the same opinions or no one would play any retro systems at all !!!

I love trying new emulators for machines which i never had when i was younger, the Atari VCS and Atari 800 games are very basic but they have great gameplay. Colecovision and MSX i never saw until i found an emulator for these machines, some great arcade conversions on these two machines.

Its like a N64/PSX2 fanboy not giving retro games or machines a chance. Some of the best games are on the old consoles/computers

Well the f-day beta ones released for the competition were excellent so just like you i cant wait for these new emulators.

Not sure when it'll be , gonna be a great day theyre released but on the other hand a sad day as i think they might be the last ones from Ryleh

It's not that I just reject those old consoles/computers out of spite, I just don't know any good games because I never owned them.

I was about to start a thread asking for recommendations on really old games (ZX, Atari, CPC, C64, etc.), maybe I'll do it now, because those actually do interest me.
However, about the arcade conversions: I'm not going to play games like Bubble Bobble on C64 or ZX, if I can play them with 100x better sound and gfx on a better console, like SMS.

I do get some of your points.

But think about every person who has a GP32, say each person has 12 or so emulators on their GP32, i cant believe every person owned all those 12 machines in the past.

For me personally i went from Spectrum-Amiga-Gameboy-Megadrive-PSX

For me one of the best things about emulation is trying out the games, i never had an MSX but i go to www.vgmuseum.com to look at some game graphics or just put a few titles i might like the sound of on my GP32 and try them.

Yeah you might find a few donkeys but you can also find quite a few games you never knew about (As you didnt know the system). I mean the games for the PC Engine are brilliant, never had one of these but i love trying out their games as theyre so good.

I get your point about Bubble Bobble. I enjoy playing that on the NES or SMS, i do like the spectrum version as i did grow up with it but its better on the other systems. However theres some games i love seeing how the more basic version of them work on other machines. Commando i love on the MAME version, also on the Spectrum version its amazing when you think its just 48k. Check out Knight Lore which was an amazing 3d game back then.

But then again you could say why play them any games at all on your GP32 when you can play them with 100% better sound and graphics on say a PSX2 or Gamecube ??

Some of the older games might not have great graphics or sound but the main reason people still play them 20 years on is the playabillity. If most of us loved amazing 3d textured graphics and huge soundtracks we would be on www.gamecube.com not the GP32.

Not ranting at you at all, just its a shame when people dont try out some of the older systems. I love the nice graphics and sound but sometimes some of the most playable games are the older ones. One reason why we're still playing 20 year old roms

Bubble Bobble is easily as good (if not better) on the C64 than the Master System, so you are missing out on a great version.

If you use the SEARCH function, I'm sure you will find some threads with reccomendations for the various systems.

I do love playing some old arcade classics though on simpler systems. I mean Bombjack is brilliant on the Spectrum and it gives you a slight different variation on the original . I mean if you've played the MAME version to death then its quite cool playing a conversion on another older system.

I mean Space Harrier we'll never get on MAME for the GP32 but its a good little shoot em up, amazing the Spectrum/C64 could manage a game like that so theyre quite fun to play on either system

For me anyway

Oh my, now I've got myself into trouble! :)

You see, I don't care much about graphics and fancy stuff as long as a game is fun.

But if, like with Bubble Bobble (and many other games that were ported to a lot of consoles/computers) I have the choice to play the exact same game on several consoles/computers, doesn't it seem obvious that I pick the game that excels in the "secondary" features, like graphics and sound?

And besides, the various Bubble Bobble versions differ a lot, gameplay-wise. If you were as obsessed with that game as I am, you knew that. ;)
Check out the WikiPedia-article on Bubble Bobble if you're interested.

I actually played the C64 version a lot back when I was young, since a friend of mine had it. But then I got an Atari ST and that version was so much better. The Atari ST and SMS versions are closest to the arcade version (note: I'm talking about gameplay!).

So, to get back to my initial statement: I said I don't care MUCH about those emulators, it's not that I don't care at all about them.
The others are just more important to me.

DOOD TEH OLD COMPUTARZ R TEH SUXXORZZZ!!!!1111one <--- This is not what I was trying to say :-D

Anyway, let's hope that f-day is at least THIS year... ;-)

GP32 Compatibility List - find out for yourself.

Except that I was not talking about "GPEngine" I was asking about "fPCE32," and if anybody had any idea of some of the games yet. I could not find a list for "fPCE32."

And if anybody knows what I was asking about, there was a news post at some point in regards to CRB. I was wondering what it was about.

Thanks.

Ask over on Rylehs forum in the fPCE32 thread, too late for you to be a beta tester but you could ask one of the testers to try that game

Yeah i can see your point with Bubble Bobble, i like trying some games in reverse though, eg Bubble Bobble 128k on the Spectrum has the tune playing and its a laugh playing a more basic version. Difficult to explain really !

But yeah when i got my Amiga playing Bubble Bobble in colour with everything else jazzed up was amazing, i love playing the NES hacked versions of Bubble Bobble as well, and like you say the SMS version is great. Its a pity Super Bubble Bobble on the SNES never seems to work though.

Anyway nice link, i love that game, i love the sequels (Parasol Stars and Rainbow Islands) and those style of games so i'll check out some of the games on that link. I have a MAME machine so i do play Bubble Bobble a lot, have to upgrade the processor as at the moment i cant play the sequels as they run too slow.

Yes the SMS version is excellent and has a lot of the arcade features, eg bubble up everyone, blow lots of spare bubbles then when you burst at once the bubbles holding the 'baddies' then all the other spare bubbles turn into cherrys or whatever.

Great game Bubble Bobble is
