I've finished off my port of EdgePad from the gp32 (see http://gp32.sector808.org/edgewrite.php for more info on the gp32 version). EdgePad is a very basic notepad app that uses an implementation of Edgewrite for text input. Download it at http://gp2x.sector808.org/edgepad.zip

Instructions are included in the zip, and they should also be extracted to your sd along with edgepad.gpu and edgechar.cfg so you can read them on the gp2x with links (edgepad will load menu.txt as the default file). Edgepad starts off in cursor mode and pressing A or the stick will follow a link (text in [ ] ). Press Select to switch to edgewrite mode (writing mode), and move the stick to write (look at http://gp32.sector808.org/fullchart.pdf for the character guide). The box in the bottom right shows the path the stick has taken to help you. Pressing Start should (might) save. Press L+R to quit.

Notes:
This is a utility, so don't try and find it in the game menu.
If you can't seem to get it to write anything and you're sure you're moving the stick correctly, then you've probably not got edgechar.cfg in the same folder as edgepad.gpu.
I've hardly tested this so it may do strange things.

this is an awesome concept, i find it real difficult to get a flow on and remember those combinations but well done porting it

I dig it. Is there any SDL 'game' that could be ported to help with learning how to use Edgewriting style, like Giraffe did Graffiti?

I'd like to see some source :)
You wouldn't :). My gp32 code was bad enough to start with, and this is just a hack of that code (it still contains loads of gp32 and chatboard stuff scattered around the place). Once I get things sorted out a bit I'll release the edgewrite code and an example app.

I started one for the gp32 but never got round to finishing it off. Maybe I'll do a proper one now.
