I haven't heard anything for a while, Is there any news on this? Just wondering if anyone heard anything.

I've just finished fixing a problem with the sound I noticed recently.

I've still got to write some code to upgrade ver 1.0 save states to the latest version ready for the next public release and I've also got to have a look at the problem with the sprites.

I can`t wait to get to play around with the next version Reesy!
I recently found some nice Genesis games I`d like to play, but I`m waiting for v2, before I start playing.

*gasp*

Just tried out Beta 7 that just arrived. Reesy, you are amazing! In all the games that I've tried so far, the sound issue is gone, and the fixing of the 'sonic in front of the logo bug has led to Sonic Spinball working MUCH better (EDIT: but things--barrel in first level and warp holes--still stick on the screen).

I know this is a nit-picky little complaint, but it would be nice if after deleting a rom, it should return to the MAIN MENU and not the delete rom menu again because I accidently deleted a game from my SMC after thinking I was clicking to play it. But the Delete function is very appreciated nonetheless. :)

I'll test some more and report about it soon.

EDIT: Music that used to work in Ecco doesn't at all. Might just be my ROM; can someone confirm this? Also, no music in Ren & Stimpy:Stimpy Invention. I'll test more later.

yes the DAC is superb! no clicking!!

moving up to 16khz sound - no slow down ;-)

Sonic sounds lovely!!

at 166 its very fast!

madden 97 sound seems much better - timing seems a little better...

awsome thankyou Reesy

will keep checking and post when if I find something

Shanghai 2 next !

sPaCe

EDIT: I have two units an NLU and a FLU - the NLU has always been consistant at 156mhz but ive had to drop it to 150mhz now - cause it resets with the new beta - surprisingly however - it isnt any slower???

I dont think its a bug though as such - My FLU unit runs it soooooooo nicely

could it be firmware reesy? - my NLU is on korean and my FLu is on aquafish latest...

are these new updates "just" quality optimizations, or are there compatibility changes as well? (landstalker, dune....)

and another thing, i don't understand is, why are some games in fullscreen and some games not?
i mean, the games where supposed to run on a TV, so either the fullscreen or the non-fullscreen games must be stretched to fit a TV screen. because i cant remeber that any game on real hardware were not fullscreen on a TV.

It's just a case of high-res, medium-res (I believe there's a medium, at least), and low-res. Medium and high are the same size, but low-res is about the size of the SNES's resolution.

I guess they just stretch to fit your TV or something... I don't really know.

I'll try Landstalker later, but I doubt it'll work. That's a cyclone bug keeping that from running.

@spaceboygp32x: Yeah I've been playing with different cpu settings, I must have forgotten to change the code back to the original setting for 156Mhz. I'll fix this for v2.0, thanks.

@0-bake: The Genesis has loads of different screen sizes

320x240
240x240
320x224 - this is the most common one I find
240x224

I've got a PAL megadrive and it still have a border top and bottom so it was never truly full screen. But when I play EA hockey which runs in 240x224 it fills the screen width ways but still has the border top and bottom. So it must somehow stretch the screen to fit. I will not be adding screen stretching to DrMD, it would just look crap on the GP32 so I'm not going to bother.

There have been some cyclone fixes in previous beta's but dune is still broken. I'm not sure about Landstalker but I think its broken as well.

actually it's 256x224 ("32 column mode")
pal MDs have a 240 vertical res

lines are doubled and fit into 525 lines (in NTSC) or 625 lines (PAL)

Beta 7 is great! :D
So far i've yet to encounter any problems..
Nice job fixing the sound problem on many games. the sound now works in two of my favorite games, Vectorman and Alaadin! :D
Thanks Reesy! :D   ^_^ :D
I'll try some more games later...

i just asked about the screen resolutions, because i was curious, not because i thought it would be good in an emulation to make a fullscreen.
that always looks crappy, except for integer ratios.....

I just gave beat 7 a quick try, and it seems to be running OK (although I'm not too sure as yet with the sound on SOR2, something seems not quite right... it may be just me though).

BUT

In Outrun.... the sound is running much slower than it did previously. Not fair! Outrun is my fav game, and the sound is just too slow now.
