Hi like title says... is there an emulator that plays the Sega System 16 games? I would love to be able to play games like Outrun, Super Hangon, Heavy Weight Champion etc...

I did search but did not come up with anything concrete... seems like the GP32 has an emulator that supports a few of the games... ie. Shinobi... and Alien Syndrome... but I can't find anything specific about the GP2x.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

MAME for the GP2X support some. Just cross-reference these two lists:

Well Mame for the gp2x is what you'll want to use. Outrun isn't a system16 game and neither is Space Harrier. They have their own separate hardware. Mame does run Shinobi, Altered Beast, Aurial, Alein Syndrome and a couple others. Sorry though no Outrun, Space Harrier, or Super Hang On. If you want more info on System 16 hardware check out system16.com.

I think Zoddt said his next project is a system 16 emulator... correct me if I'm wrong!

Sorry, it's Final Burn that Zoddt is working on...can't wait to play shmups on it!

Sega managed to create very capable Genesis versions of most of their arcade games of the time. They're not quite as good, but should be enough to keep you busy until someone emulates the arcade version.

Well, you can play them on the "Sega Arcade Gallery" with the gba emulator. I actually have not tried if it plays full speed on the current emulator.

Here is a review http://www.dailygame.net/Articles/Reviews/segaarcglly.html

Indeed the Megadrive version of Outrun, Afterburner and Super Hangon are pretty okay, although no cool scaling.
The best version of Spaceharrier is propably on the PC-engine.

It does not - I tried it at 250mhz with "optimised" ram timings and the bugfixed mmuhack, and get about 10fps, and huge sound stutters. Also, the palette gamma is wrong, so the road is almost invisible.

It's the only GBA ROM I want to play :)
