GP2X Different Kind Of Emulator :-)

Just a small update: Spent some time on it last night, it now loads the kernel, checks the crc, and uncompresses it properly. The kernel now runs too, it just doesn't get very far as I don't support the MRC/MCR commands yet, so Linux looks for the processor id, doesn't get it, and panics, thinking it's running on the wrong processor architecture.

We have LCD output now though! The GP2X logo is displayed just before it crashes (kinda like a real gp2x ;) )

Great work squidge, I'm watching this thread with great interest.

Are you planning to make it windows only, or is there a possibility of a linux version?

Is this intended for devs so they can save on the SD-Card shuffle we currently undergoe when testing apps?

Do you expect to get full speed emulation?

Good work Squidge. You are a genius. Can I have some of your brain matter? With that much crammed in your skull you wouldn't miss a little bit. LOL ;)

Wow! What an in depth emu!

It'll be Windows only until it's usable enough to start porting it to other platforms.

Yes, it's intended to let you run and debug Linux and HH apps (including new uboots, kernels, etc) without needing to constantly write to SD cards and the like. Of course you'll still need the gp2x hardware, as no emulator will be 100% perfect, but it should make life a little easier.

Here's another piccy:

Your visual studio looks much sexier than mine :(

It's the 2005 edition. :)

wow very nice, i'm sure glad someone is doing this, transfering an app everytime you want it tested is very tedious... thanks for doing this! *waits to get a gp2x*

As someone who has used GeePee32 a lot, and appreciated it immensely (thank you Firefly) this has got to be the most eagerly awaited GP2X related development for me. Thank you, but most of all I hope you are having fun doing it. (Don't want you getting bored and wandering off!)
