Do we have any dictionary or thesaurus applications currently, and if not would anyone be interested in porting one - i for one would certainly find something like this useful.

I'm not sure if this is appropriate but StarDict seems pretty good http://www.linux.com/directory/Software/Applications/StarDict/details, if anyone knows of anything better or more suitable please feel free to suggest.

Thanks for listening.

EDIT:

forgot to add a few port requests:

Exult - http://exult.sourceforge.net/ (unless im imagining things i am sure this was available in some form or another on the GP2X)

Dream Chess - http://www.dreamchess.org/ (can't go wrong with a traditional "cerebral" game)

Armagetron Advanced - http://www.armagetronad.net/ (i would be surprised if this works with all the details on, but with some tweaking here and there, who knows! - been playing it recently and it's great fun, fingers crossed someone takes it on.)

GoldenDict (which is compatible to StarDict) is already ported. I'm using it often.

I vote on porting this game too, it is AWESOME!
Sorry for reviving this thread, but if anyone here is able to do ports, I love armagetron advanced too !

The source code is out there, I don't think it would be rocketscience, but then again, I'm not exactly sure how one ports an application.

*puppy eyes*

I've added Exult and DreamChess to the wiki page, but Armegatron Advanced required OpenGL, so it would take more effort to port (put this in improbable). Also, I could have sworn Armegatron was already on the page - it must have been removed.

EDIT: DremChess requires OGL as well. Sorry.

Err, I'm pretty new to this, why exactly can't the pandora do openGL?

Please enlighten me, or link me some reading material :)

thx

Edit: which Wiki?

The Pandora can only run OpenGL ES, not OpenGL. GL ES is specifically aimed at portable devices, however porting from GL to GL ES is not as difficult as, say, porting from OpenGL to DirectX (a much larger difference).

This means that open source games using OpenGL could potentially be ported, but would probably need a more significant amount of work than games written specifically for GL ES.

EDIT: There has been talk about getting OpenGL running on the Pandora, but it is not currently available.

I see. the *can* part, is that something that will always be like that, or is it more like a driver issue?

Sorry for going offtopic, I'm curious.

Also, the wiki page?

If I understand your question correctly, then yes, OpenGL is theoretically possible to have running on the Pandora, but it would almost certainly require overclocking and is nowhere near becoming a reality at this point.

I couldn't find anything on the wiki, except guidelines for converting OpenGL programs to GL ES.

oh, sorry, I was actually asking about the wiki page mentioned here:
