"Sir, you've gone mad with power."

"Of course I have. Ever tried going mad without power? It's boring. No one listens to you."

[edit] Forgot to address the points from your other post TaG. Author name: Agreed, I'd like to see them displayed with the article too. I'm looking into it. On the bright side, we now have an author list in the sidebar again so you can instantly list entries by author.

Font size on Pandora screen: Good point. Luckily, we have full control of such things now.

I don't have any problems with people being negative, criticizing or laughing at the pandora but TT is just trolling. he should be barred from commenting

It's true. He's cancelled his order and now it seems like his only purpose in hanging around is to stir the pot.

I thought long and hard about whether to approve "that" post from pandoraisgansta (lol) today, which was completely off the wall and inflammatory. Then I thought, just throw it out there and let the level headed people sort him out. Which they generally do. But if stuff gets out of hand I can set the spam filter to catch certain posts.

===

In more mundane news, a message for all blog authors. TaG mentioned that he'd like to see the author name on each entry, and I totally agree. The new theme doesn't do it unfortunately, it requires PHP editing which in turn requires hosting on our own server. That could happen in the future, but not yet. The pickle is, the current theme is the best one Wordpress has for our purposes. So until we find a solution, I've made up some little chunks of code that let us manually credit our posts.

When you start a new post, paste your code in at the very start. ** You must be in HTML mode for it to work. ** ...then you can switch back to visual mode. This is wholly optional of course, because you just may not care.

I went through and edited all the front page posts today, and also the most recent couple of posts from each author.

About the spam filter as it stands: It currently filters any words to do with sales, in the hopes of catching any potential spammers. So if you use the words "buy" "sell" or "cheap" in your posts (for example), don't be surprised if your comment needs to be moderated.

Ask ED to Host it.

On another forum I moderate, the problem of spammers was solved by rejecting all messages with URLs in them. A few messages advertising a product without actually linking to it have slipped through, but this easily cut out 99% of them.

The blog's spam filter also picks up anything with more than one URL. A few single link spam posts have gotten through, but we delete them pretty quickly. Plenty of WoW gold / b1gg3r p3n1s posts have been blocked.

Good God, using that forum would be extremely annoying. Just have a rigorous password system that no robot would be able to pass...

How would it be annoying? It does have a captcha system that seems to have stopped the robots. Humans have taken up the task now instead.

He obviously means having a forum where no one can post links would be annoying.

Oh! It"s not no one, just new users. Sorry, should have been clear. After a few "probationary" posts, it automatically sets the flag that lets you post links.
