Hi Guys,
Seems craigix still cant access gp32x.de. From what he's said it might be a problem with his ISP's inline-proxy. Not much he can do about it if it is... however... is some kind soul was to set up a reverse proxy to gp32x.de on a public server I was thinking he would be able to use that.

Just an idea.

(Unfortunately im working atm, or I'd do it.)

No it doesn't. That might be how its *normally* used, but I've done it before with apache for an external website. It works.

B!
He tried that, he can get read pages, but posts are not working.
The point about using a reverse proxy is that all the requests go to gp3x.com (I mean via your own server), so it makes the url re-direction much easier

Using a reverse proxy outside the webserver does in this case, nothing that a ordinary proxu wouldn't do...
B!

*written on / through a Glype HTTP proxy, in the US, from Sweden.*

Looks like it worked. And editing seams to work to.
Shoot him the link, and tell him to stay away from PHProxy's.
B!

Seems he's fixed this now... but he could try changing to a different DNS. That's worked for me several times when I haven't been able to access certain sites.

true, i have been jumping DNS servers for accessing GP32

its a big headache with GP32, i dont know why it gets so hard to read these boards.

i've used proxy and posting just works fine.

Yeah, but did you block gp32x.de first? do you know for sure the post-back went via the proxy?

The http proxy *should* work, but they mainly rely heavily on url-rewriting which isn't easy to get to work for all websites with a web proxy.
The difference is in a reverse proxy - , is that all requests that go to server A gets transferred to server B. so http://serverA/page.html returns the
page from http://serverB/page.html - it only needs to re-write the full http:// urls.

p.s. Im not his best mate, I was just going by what he said in the tweet.

There are plenty of online proxies that "just work". I know, I spend my working life blocking kids from them. And if a 12-year-old can find it without having to go on any filtered "dodgy" sites, I'm sure anyone else can find hundreds of them, especially if they know the magic Google incantations. It's not hard to find 50 or more sites that do nothing but list *other* sites that run open proxies.

Personally, in that situation, I'd just download and install Tor - you don't have to rely on any remote configuration, you can just use your web browser as normal, and you can switch back and forth between proxy or not without even noticing that anything is different. Works fine for reading but you'd have to give your account details to post. But you're already giving out your username/password to some magic proxy site on the net if you want to post anyway, so you might as well do it over Tor where 99.9% of the endpoints won't bother to monitor/interfere with your traffic, and/or create a new account. Just remember to change your password afterwards, just in case.

Actually, personally, I'd VPN into my employer's network seeing as I was the one that set the VPN and web-filtering up, but that's not an option for most people.

Surely, EvilDragon could give Craig a SSH tunnel. Why so complicated?
Or use someone elses pc. I know.
Frankly I didn't think it was complicated (its not terrible difficult to set up if you have a free ip, apache, and a handy server), now though I'm sorry i even mentioned it.

I offered to let him use my SSH server, but he declined.

SSH tunnel, not complicated? It's likely a DNS issue, entering the IP address of gp32x.de could let him access the boards, or switching his router/modem to OpenDNS

Maybe, just maybe, it's all a cunning ploy to avoid these boards and the inevitable chaos that will descend on them over the coming days.......
:p

Craig likes creating suspense.

Sometimes, he would make a comment that's overly vague; other times he promises to post more info, but a bit later.

I think it's one of there times.
