Aren't modern mp3 players/ipods/whatevers all REALLY fussy about the client s/w used to upload files?
So I can't use an Ipod, or a Sony whatsit, or a creative i-river thingy or whatever because they ALL say that they require winXP or Mac-OS to upload files. and you have to upload through their own client s/w.
(is that right? or is there a viable way of using a modern ipod/alternative with linux?)
I don't have either. My PCs either run KANOTIX or Win98SE, because I like them better. so I would be stuck without my trusty li'l GP2X! which makes a good portable media player, and it is also a very convenient way to play mp3s through my stereo, without having to trail cables across to a PC somewhere.
is a shame there's no playlist support. haven't tried ogg files yet, the 'podcasts' I regularly listen to are in mp3 format
btw, someone mentioned reducing screen-refresh-rate to conserve battery life. well, you can actually turn the screen OFF in the music player by pressing 'select'. this also serves as a key-lock for all the other buttons.
