Hello to all gp32x.de Members
I am happy to announce that in 2 weeks i will be a full owner of a brand new caanoo
I got motivated by Rhythmos, but it makes me sad the fact that it only have 12-14 songs

Since 97-98's that exist a common format for music games called Be-music script, made by Urao Yane
you can read more about this format here
http://www.sun-inet.or.jp/~yaneurao/bm98/bmsformat.html

Making a music game for Caanoo that could read this kind of format would be awesome!!
There are more than 10000 songs (many with their own keysounds, "not only 1 bgm file") around the net
and i have like 8000.

Sadly my programming skills are not enough for this task
But someone called X-Raise programmed a BMS Player called Be-Pachi Music

I've found the game source code here
http://x-raise.cjb.net/bpm_dl/bpm_v0.0641_src.zip

I would like to know if any programmer here could make the port
I can provide hosting, domain to make a project page and even sharing songs for Caanoo owners delightment

Some links
Rhythmos video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knkYZmQXST8
Be-Pachi Music Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GF6n-QNXWfA (too hard for playing on caanoo, ?Maybe if game is readapted to 5k?)
Be-pachi source code:http://x-raise.cjb.net/bpm_dl/bpm_v0.0641_src.zip

If you are interested please, answer in this thread

Thanks everybody for the time

Kind Regards
Glas

Oh by the way

The source code compiles with Borland Delphi 7 + DelphiX.

I'm not sure you can easily port a game written in Delphi to the Wiz or the Cannoo.

I tried looking into this some time ago (porting or writing from scratch a beatmania IIDX clone) because I really enjoy these games, but the number of songs you could play was limited by either the amount of RAM or the slow decoding of ogg files. In any case, there'd be a fair amount of songs to play, especially older 5-key ones.

Well you are really wrong
PSP has already an bms player and i've played songs with 500-600 WAV or OGG's in a psp lite at 333 and worked awesome fine
fyi psp has 64 mb of ram
caanoo has 128 mb of ram
so it's easily possible!

I got plenty of 5-k songs and if this really gets alive i offer myself to rechart 7k songs and adapt it to 5k mode

also

BUMP

i'm just wondering, can you explain me this a bit more? I've googled a bit and found that BMS is just a text file with some game information inside. What's 7k and 5k mode? Are these the single keys to press (like the guitar hero strings?) ... and what interests me most is, how are those BMS files created? is this handwork or are there any tools around that do the basic work?

BMS is an standard format for music game files
it's a text file that it's converted to the notecharts (falling notes you press)
yes, they are like the guitar hero strings (horrible example, guitar hero is just a rip off )

First games using bms format was beatmania (if my memory is right)
there is a common terminology between beatgamers
5k and 7k (even 9k in pop'n music game)

Beatmania uses the following gaming standard
Button Button Button
Scratch disk
Button Button Button Button

as you may see here

but there is also other kind of games like DJMAX or EZ2DJ who uses 5K style

here is BMSE
The most famous and common used tool for Notecharting(making bms)
http://ucn.tokonats.net/software/bmse/
http://ucn.tokonats.net/archives/bmse/bmse_138.zip

Oh gotta explain too that 5k is really 7k in some games as well 7k is 8k
beacuse scratch disc and Pedal are not counted ^^

if you got any other question
feel free to ask
i am curious of you are able to port this software to caanoo

thanks for the explanation, i really appreciate that. so that means, creating BMS files is handwork - that's tough :)

i've no idea about delphi, sorry, but no help porting it from my side, and additionally i dont have a caanoo but "only" a wiz. i'll maybe take a deeper look into that BMS stuff though, because i'm also into music games quite a lot ( audiorace was done by me ... ) :)

oh thanks anyway
i've send u a pm to not offtopic this thread

bump!

If it's "easily possible" then go ahead and make one. You should think twice before saying someone "is really wrong" if you don't wanna come off rude (to say the least). I really don't need you telling me how much RAM the Caanoo has, I already did my research. Thank you.

Instead of being so mad, you could just say that it's not possible and show your source
As i don't know programming i just said that if a psp with 64mb ram could why not a caanoo with 128?

Didn't had any intentions of calling you a lier or to insult you
The thread u shared here is pretty interesting
My Apologies

Now going back to the thread
