I`ve had a MK802IV for a while now... put a rom on it with a 720p ( anti jitter ) kernal

Brilliant... I use a Measy Rc13 controller too...  works really really well..

I had/have a sony google tv blueray player nsz-gt1 that I'm basically being forced into upgrading due to lack of updates and fixes and general performance issues and lack of a decent amazon prime instant video streamer. (never agian x86 android)

This is what I have my eye on at the moment.

measy U2C

my family does weekly google hangouts with our in-laws to stay in touch and this would be a lot easier than our current huddle around the laptop.

this is another one I'm looking at RK3188 because it looks to be better spec'd but trying to find a compatible webcam is kinda a pain and looks to add at least $20-30 to the total pricetag.

If I didn't care about video chat, and just about streaming/gaming I'd get the latter one.

Of course if you had $300 to blow I'd get a shield or madcatz mojo, but I think the appeal of these android on a stick is the cheapness/perf aspect
