Question: What is 'kickstart' and where can I get one?
Answer: A kickstart ROM is part of the Amiga operating system and is somewhat comparable to the BIOS chip found inside a modern computer. Without a kickstart ROM, no Amiga could operate and neither can an Amiga emulator.
The Amiga kickstart is copyrighted material and thus it is illegal to own or obtain copies of one of a kickstart ROM unless you actually own a "real" Amiga.
You may be able to download Amiga kickstart ROMs from the web, however we can and will not help you with obtaining one so please don't ask us about it. And again, be warned that downloading an Amiga kickstart ROM without actually owning a "real" Amiga is illegal.
I assumed when writing the readme that people using it would have owned an Amiga in the past. If you never had an Amiga, you might like to read this:Claym99 posted on Mar 21 2006 at 06:20 AM said:what is the kick.rom file? the uae4all readme says to put it in the directory along with uae4all.gpe but it doesn't mention what it is.
