First of all; try to find out what WiFi chipset it uses. It's highly likely that you or somebody else need to compile a driver for it, as they aren't included in the stock firmware/kernel.

yeah its RTL8187L, i spent a fair bit of time trying to get the 'make' function working so i could use the original configuration file. Is that the best way to go about it?
