It is open-source and a great "Battle Isle" clone:

I am not a coder, but I would assist as far as I can ;)

This could be a really good GP32 game :D

I left a msg on their board, maybe theyll check it out...

looks kinda like a command and conquer game to me... although I have doubts whether its got a decent playable AI yet?... it says on their site that that parts underway and that its mainly multiplayer... not really much good for a handheld ;) looks kewl though

Ahhh, someone who doesn't remember Battle Isle...

Battle Isle absolutely rocked back in my uni days...this (on Amiga), Frontier (on PC), and Sensi (again on Amiga) caused me to miss far too many lectures! :D

Basically the premise is the same as Command And Conquer (two opposing armies - obliterate opponent), but implementation is different. The way it worked was that you took it in turns to first move all your units, and then you'd fight with all your units any units that were within range. This is back in the day when computer power wasn't quite enough for real time "thinking-by-AI" and displaying the effects of the game and scrolling about the battle field and keeping score simultaneously.

You'd have to wait for Dune 2 for that.

Maybe Battle Isle came out on ST... seems not :(

at least it would be cool to have a similar game for the gp...

you could plan your moves at school/Uni and then transfer it to the PC for some battles via email... that would be cool... ;)

It was a little faster paced than that, synkro.

While player 1 was plotting his movement phase, player 2 (ideally a human player) would be plotting their firing phase. Once both players had finished, the computer would execute the commands, and the roles were reversed.

Mind you, one of the downsides to the game was that both players played on the same screen, making surprise attacks unlikely!

@ColinR. I know I played BI a lot past in the days, but now I am more into the system that Advance Wars (GBA) has. I still think dividing the turns into fire and movemen phase was caused by the splitscreen.
